Instead of going to The Dark Knight, I was home strategizing the shit out of my assault on Green Grass and High Tides, preparing for an all-out slaughter of it. Tomorrow, it's either it or me. Tonite I got though it 94%, so my money's on me.

Dammit, I'm freakin' pwned by Wii Fit. Sleep is actually going to be very sweet tonight.
The Dead Rising Wii website is online now and has some screenshots. There are definitely less zombies on screen, but it doesn't look that bad overall.

D, I completely agree with everything you said about JRPG's.
Something that always angered/confused me about them is that there's not much customization in it at all. Regardless of how you equip your character(s), you're still playing through the exact same story, with the same set of characters, every time.
There are no unique experiences.
The whole point of RPGs is the open, sandbox feel to them.
When you take that away, you just have a very slowly paced action game with annoying combat.
And kids with bad hair.
My proviso for playing single player video games is that it has to have a story I can get involved in and I have to pretty much be able to play it linearly through to the end, at which point the game is finished forever. I have no interest in open-ended gameplay or character customisation, I basically want my character to be akin to one from a television programme or novel. Something like Diablo II is very boring to me and I didn't like the last Final Fantasy very much because it borrowed too much from the Diablo model.
I'm in the same boat as Winston, but I don't think FFXII borrowed as much from Diablo as a basic computer programming class. That combat system was seriously boring. Set up your gambits and walk around while you watch your characters kill things. Over and over again. You know what was the peak of the RPG battle systems? Secret of Mana. The only thing that would have improved it would be an option to not pause the action while you're cycling through the ring menus. Multiplayer took a hit because of that as whoever the sprite was would just dominate the bosses with magic and you couldn't even move.
Yeah, those DR screens look pretty good.
Fun game, I still need to beat it.
Wow, Wrath of the Lich King looks absolutely amazing. This is going to be a massive expansion. The beta is open now and all sorts of cool stuff is released. The urge to resubscribe to WoW is growing by the day. :)
Also the Warrior skill, Titan's Grip (dual wielding 2-handed weapons), looks awesome.

That is awesome.
And now with the latest patch you can get a mount at lvl 30. My warrior is almost there, but I've been having more fun playing my undead rogue. I think I am going to stick with the rogue for now, but he is only at lvl 7. :(
here's a little thing i wrote up on my gaming forum... missing games from E3
Here's a list of games I was really looking forward to seeing at E3 this year. There's some big titles missing.
1. Alan Wake: The last time we heard anything about this game was January/Feb when they were talking about it being delayed until 2009 (which was my prediction) and the last time we got any media from them was when they announced the pics and trailer in 06....
2. Borderlands: Had a great spread in GI a few months ago but since we haven't heard much of anything. was looking forward to seeing new videos of gameplay.
3. Half-Life 2: Episode 3: We knew before hand that Valve only had Left 4 Dead on the showcase lineup, but fans were expecting a surprise announcement or at least a teaser / trailer to the next episode. We haven't heard anything or seen anything except for a few concept art piece.
4. Mafia II: People who played the first Mafia maybe the only ones interested in this game, but before the Godfather came out, this game was the best mafia game on the market... however that wasn't really saying much. It has the same GTA like atmosphere but this should have been present this year.
5. Section 8: Its an upcoming FPS game built on the Unreal 3 engine. Need i say more? E3 would have been a great place to show off some new stuff. We get nothing. :(
6. Aliens: Colonial Marines: Seems like a pretty incredible game in the works and like Borderlands had a great spread in GI a few months ago, but no videos or new screenshots.
7. Prototype: NOTHING! The game that was supposed to come out this year gets nothing at E3? WTF?
8. WipEout HD: It's an upcoming PSN game that is a remake off the PSX game and his very highly anticipated among PS3 owners, Sony doesn't even mention it.
9. Huxley: Info has dried up completely on this game. Is it even still in the works??
10. Dead Island: I haven't made a thread about this yet because we don't have much info to go on. However, the game is described as a first-person shooter that pits you on an island full of zombies. Hehe. Developed by the guys who made Call of Juarez
11. Chrome 2: Another game by Techland (the guys who made CoJuarez) and this is a sci-fi shooter sequel to a 2003 game. No news. Nothing.
On Tuesday's episode of GFW, they talk about the Borderlands demonstration they saw. They didn't sound very enthused. It's actually a really funny segment, check it out.
Alan Wake is shaping up to be the next Duke Nukem - they've totally squandered the goodwill they generated years ago. People have turned their excitement into skepticism.
Same for Huxley, and that other new Massively Multiplayer Singleplayer FPS, can't remember the name of it.
I was hoping for some info on the new X-Com game.
I'll be sure to check out that Boarderlands demo... Thanks for the info.
And I agree with your Alan Wake comment. I still beleive.
I am still in love with the AW's high concept, I just hope they can deliver on it.
To me, Alan Wake feels like one of those games where they develop one really amazing feature, and try to write a game around that one feature. An example of that would be the upcoming game Fracture. The game uses an incredible new way for terrain deformation. So they tried to built a game where you have a gun that changes the terrain to fight enemies...
The feature in AW is the weather changing rapidly combined with a good physics engine. They're trying to make a horror phenomenon out of it...
Whoa, nothing on Prototype? That ain't right.
I think Prototype saw Infamous and got scared.
When you think about it, they thought prototype was gonna be released this fall.... and then it got delayed and they still didn't bring it to E3... wtF?
They've made the grind to level 60/70 way faster and easier now and that's very cool. A mount at lvl 30 is really a big deal actually, because you will get so much faster to your destinations than on foot. I thought they made it cheaper too?
I haven't played a warrior in the higher level range, but I've heard that it isn't so much fun to play if you're not going to raid with it. It's a very gear depended class. Rogue is awesome to play in groups and alone. It's also pretty sweet for ganking / pvp'ing (if you are on a pvp server).
I played a shadow priest and warlock and would definitely recommend one of those if you're looking for another class to play. The first couple levels might be hard, but after 30/40 it's a smooth ride. :P
From my experience you made the right choice to go Horde. On all the servers I played the Alliance attracted a lot more whiny / annoying kids than Horde. I'm not sure why though, it could be the night elves. On the downside, I thought the Alliance had the cooler capital cities. They are located in better locations than the Horde ones.
Also, if you have the Burning Crusade expansion, ask someone to summon you to Shattrah city in Outland and make that city your home. You can teleport for free to any of the 3 capital cities from there.
holy shit.. they changed the mount to lvl 30 from 40?
I stopped playing WoW @ lvl 36 and was just getting tired of walking everywhere...
i may have to sign back up... check out the mount i never got
Dude, I got an X-Box!
As for games, I got Bioshock. I'll probably get Rez HD too. I'm open for any ooh-ooh-ooh-you-gotta-play-this suggestions any of you might have, with the exceptions of Rez HD (I'm gonna be getting this straight away) and The Big Orange Box (I'll probably get this after I've played Bioshock out).
Now, most of you may not care, but I just thought I'd let everyone know that I'm a rock and roll God and that The Outlaws were just made my cosmic bitches.
