LOL - Amazon.ca's price for "Assassin's Creed IV" on PS4? $131.99
I'm sure those will sell like hotcakes!
They're actually sold out. That's not Amazon's price, it's a marketplace seller.
I got a question. When I'm through my library of ps3 games, the plan is to shelve or sell the system along with ps3 games. That said, I don't wanna get rid of classics such uncharted 2 which I could see myself replaying somewhere down the line. That said, the ps4 is not backw. Compat. So it seems useless to keep ps3 games other than for collecting dust on the shelf. BUT, But wait! Could it be that with the ps4 there will eventually be a scenario where replaying old games does become an option? I've read about this gakai thing which is a streaming service of sorts. So:
would it be wise to hold on to my copy of uncharted 2 (but sell the ps3). AND i'm assuming a physical copy is needed for Gakai
AND
How likely do you think this scenario of ps3 games becoming playable on the ps4 (one way or another) is?
I think it's likely. It sounds like Sony is investing heavily in Gakai. There wouldn't be any point in keeping a copy of U2 if you're going to go that route, though. The whole point of Gakai is that you would stream the game, so the game would actually be running in "the cloud" similar to how services like OnLive currently work.
Personally, I'd rather keep the console/game and play it that way but who knows how this stuff will turn out.
Its highly unlikely the PS4 will ever be backwards compatible. Best case scenario, they're release a PSN digital version of Uncharted and you will be able to DL and play it on the PS4.
Times have certainly changed.
Sony only sold 197,000 PS3 units to the US in its first two weeks of availability.
The PS4 sold 1 million units on its first day.
I just wants to jump in and say fuck off the lot of you who recommended Diablo 3. Fucker is un-put-downable. I played for well over 8 hours yesterday, and it's been on my mind since I woke up today. Where does fun end and compulsion begin?
Kill bigger monsters to collect better stuff to make it easier to kill bigger monsters to collect better stuff to make it easier to kill bigger monsters to collect better stuff to make it easier to kill bigger monsters to collect better stuff to make it easier to kill bigger monsters to collect better stuff ...
I gotta say that Killzone implements it pretty well. When you pick up some sort of audiolog in the game and listen to it, the sound comes out of the controller speaker instead of the regular audio channels, which continue to blare out the standard FPS cacophony. It gives you the experience of forcing you to try to listen to something you're actually holding and making out what it's saying amidst all the other noise, instead of a crisp, clear, fully audible message you could listen to without interruption, which i don't think would happen if you were in real life rambling through a mysterious spaceship trading fire with aliens.
I feel like I'm finally getting the hang of Resogun. I think I've mastered rookie difficulty and am ready to move up to Veteran.
Also looks like they are still available in most stores. Which is good that they were prepared to deliver a ton of units. Still got people on craigslist trying to sell them for over $1000 in this area and then I walked in to gamestop and target today and both of them had them in stock.
"The Bridge" is really cool.
Finished Killzone today. It's an OK game, but a great launch game, if that makes any sense. There were a few frustrating moments where I was saying to myself "how the fuck could they pass this off as "fun". This level for example was a bitch. You're freefalling from space and you have to avoid crumbling buildings.

And some more eye candy for the hell of it. One of the best features this gen is not being able to tell the difference between when gameplay starts/ends and cut scenes begin/end. You know that grainy film that devs sometimes do when they get lazy and they don't want to make cut scenes in the in game engine? Well that's gone. IT's seamless. And it's beautiful.

Hey Duke, thanks for them screens. Say, any thoughts you wanna share on A Serbian movie? Heard it was really repugnant, but your score is quite high.
@Bacon: ah ok about the audio logs. I guess that adds a smidgen of realism to it. No biggie, but perhaps I'll appreciate it more once i actually play the game.
finally, i've come to the conclusion red faction: armageddon isn't a dissapointment at all. It kicks ass. Sure enough, the freeform gameplay of guerilla is gone, but I applaud Volition for mixing it up and anyway you dice and slice it, the reduced destruction you can cause is still ample enough to make this third person shooter stand out. Moves at a breakneck pace, the graphics are really colorful too, no mean feat given you're underground! On Mars!
Yeah, I was pleasantly surprised by Armageddon. It sounded like everything I didn't want the sequel to be but the campaign was a lot of fun. Quite colorful, as you say, and also great music. Creates a really great atmosphere. The destruction is still great, particularly with the new weapons. The magnet gun was a blast. There was also a neat Descent throwback in one level.
Man, "Fall of Cybertron" continues to be epic to the max. There's some truly awe-inspiring stuff here. I do suppose there's a certain audience for it, but if this kind of stuff at all appeals to you, I implore you to c.heck it out.
I love how the game tightens as you go through - the first chapter is nearly an hour long. The second about 45 minutes. The third 30 minutes. A few of the later chapters are just 5-10 minute snippets of intense action. It really grants the game a desperate, ticking clock atmosphere.
Awesome flying, too. Some of the best I've ever played.
I never would have guessed when they announced the two initial PS+ games for PS4 (Contrast & Resogun) that the one I would end up digging would be Resogun. Contrast on the other hand sucks. From the moment I was put in control of the character I knew it wasn't looking good. I haven't played a game that controlled this poorly in a long time. The only thing the game has going for it is it's artstyle. The game is not fun to play and the story is lackluster. If you're looking for a "arty" platformer/puzzler I'd recommend Rain or Papa y Yo over this junk.
