Or because... you know.. it's not a console.

Ya it is, and their denial of that fact is weird.
Don't worry about it. All the game publications and everyone else are calling it a console. Its own wikipedia page states that it's a console. Let them market it however they want.
Anyone want a $5 promotional credit towards the pre-order of NBA 2K14 on Amazon?
Steam Machines - we might end up with too many variations from box to box (like all the different Android devices/configurations) for the end user to take advantage of the perks of having a more console-like PC, walled-garden approach (things like not having to worry about hardware configuration and software compatibility), thus rendering the thing pointless before it launches.
Impressive. Must get.
BTW, rented Grand Theft Auto V from Redbox. Not impressed. Why would I want to tow cars? Bring on Beyond.
My X-Box Live membership ends. I think it's time to just turn it in, finish out the PS3 games I want (Beyond Two Souls, South Park, Batman: Arkham Origins) and turn that in sometime next year for the PS4.
The wow factor in this game is the scope. You need to play more than the first 1-2 hours to get a handle of just how big the city and area is. I mean, you can freakin swim underwater! Climb mountains! Fly planes, helicopters ... but yeh, just dickin around in the hood with Franklin at the beginning isn't going to give much to react to.
I have been consistently impressed with GTA V. The size of the map alone is awe-inspiring. It's a major improvement over IV and it might be good enough to overshadow Vice City. We'll see.
I just unlocked Trevor, who is probably the best GTA character ever. Yes. Ever.
As much as I would love to play GTA V, I just can't muster up any enthusiasm for its subject matter. I'm so completely done with this kind of gangster/crime thing.
Looks amazing, it just doesn't hold any interest for me.
That you can swim underwater and climb mountains isn't nearly as important as what's to be found there in terms of missions, easter eggs and opportunities for dicking around. Scope is great and all, but in the end it's about gameplay. It remains to be seen just how much the oceans will give up once we make the dive. I've since read that missions involving the ocean are incredibly sparse as per the main missions so there's that. To be sure, I can't wait to get started after I get back from the holidays, I'm super excited, but I can definitely see myself just growing tired off snorkeling in the water sooner rather than later. Still, I suppose it's nice to have that option.
THIS IS FUCKING AWESOME.

I think Scar would get a real kick out of "Sniper Elite: V2".
For those who are playing Gta v, can you turn off the map in the bottom of the screen? I keep thinking that it'll force me to get to know the city rather than looking at the map thing the whole time. But even better, bad guys won't turn up as red dots which should things more exciting, tense.
Haven't tried. It might be in the options.
I spent $100k on modifying a car and stored it in my garage. When I loaded the save the car was gone and so was my money. :(
