I ran into a friendly S. Korean couple on the bus today, who were looking to get to an address that's just up the street from my office. The busses don't go out that far, (I usually walk for about 30 minutes to get there -- it's my daily exercise :) ), and I alerted them to that. I told them I typically walk, but they should be able to catch a taxi at the mall where I jump off the bus. There were no cabs at the mall, of course, like there usually are.
Well, we all jumped off the bus and they quickly said, "Thank yooouu!" and wandered off. I headed on my way, and then I felt a little obligated to continue helping them, because they didn't appear to understand my instructions. I decided to cab to my office and then just point the cab driver to their destination. So, I grabbed some cash for a taxi and went back to the bus stop and they'd disappeared. There was no way they'd gotten a cab that fast.
And because they went wandering off, I started to feel a little responsible for maybe, possibly getting them lost ...

Where do you put the "The" when there is a subtitle after a colon, like...
"The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King"
... is it:
Lord of the Rings, The: The Return of the King
OR
Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, The
?

For the record, I believe the first "The" stays to the left of the colon like "Lord of the Rings, The: The Fellowship of the Ring" since the colon is there to separate the two phrases (with one "The" each).

I just found out that one of my dearest friends growing up committed securities fraud and defrauded my now-deceased grandmother out of over $200,000 and also an unspecified amount from my parents. He is currently serving time in prison for the fraud.
This is not a great moment for my faith in humanity. This was one of the kindest, sweetest guys I knew.
In case you're curious, this information was being carefully kept from me. I'm not willfully ignorant. I was only told now because there's a strong probability it will come up in a big, ugly way tomorrow.
Which is terrific.
Because tomorrow I'm spending all day prepping food for forty people, so that I can help host a memorial for my grandmother, whom I miss very much, on Saturday and give a speech I haven't prepared yet, to be followed immediately by certain houseguests leaving and others coming in just before I close on a house on Monday. So it's not like I'm under stress and emotionally fragile right now. The timing is just perfect.
