i end up in those situations quite frequently it seems, and i generally do what you did. in the past when i've started arguments it's caused more trouble than helped. i.e. it's pissed off the guy and done nothing to change his views. so, yeah, since you don't really have a close relationship with him, i don't see any reason to intervene.
Or you can write down his credit card information and address, then use it on Amazon to purchase 10 copies each of Lil' Wayne's and Soulja Boy's latest albums.
Meg, it's not your job to police people's attitudes and language, so don't. Mention what happened to your bosses and let that be it. If they choose to take action, that's their prerogative. But, making a stink in front of a regular paying customer is going to probably end with you getting canned.
