Agree, Ghost Town is pretty awesome, and I too still love The Specials (incl. Funboy Three, Rico, most all Two-Tone, etc.). Even tho their two studio albums are miles apart in tone, I love 'em both equally well. D, have you ever heard the version of Do Nothing with the ice rink strings all throughout the song? Love 2 Tone. Love all those bands--The Specials (Special AKA, not so much, but they were responsible for one of my favorite 80s songs, "Nelson Mandela"), The (English) Beat, Madness, The Selecter. Many years ago, I dated this guy who was totally obsessed with ska. He was responsible for bringing Bad Manners to Columbia in the early 90s.Quote:

We played with them, The Selector, Hep Cat, Jimmy Cliff, Skankin' Pickle, No Doubt (when they were a ska band), Let's Go Bowling, Dance Hall Crashers, Buck Oh-9, and a ton of other great ska bands. In the mid-90s, ska was king in California.

But you are right - the pedal steel is restrictive. You could play it standing up though. I've seen some old country guys playing it like this. It's hard to skank to the beat sitting behind something.

The LGB show with Bad Manners in 1991 was the one that we played at as well. It was awesome.
I forgot that we also got to play with The Mighty, Mighty Bosstones - this was probably the most fun show I've ever played. Those dudes are crazy.
