Random Thoughts

I have a problem with loud-talking women. It may be a cultural thing. I'm not fond of anyone who yells, male or female, but women who just naturally have a loud speaking voice or women who almost-shout when they speak drive me up the wall.

The woman in the office next to mine is a loud talker, but our schedules don't overlap much. But today she's not only in, but she's apparently angry about something, because not only can I hear her clearly through the wall, but it's unpleasantly loud through the wall.

It doesn't help that my deeply-ingrained response to yelling people is to leave, immediately. I'm pretty sure I'm not permitted to leave work just because someone is yelling.

haha. my mom just has a very loud voice. there are times when i'm trying to focus on something and she's talking on the phone that make me want to go :frustrated:

Ah, geez, yeah, that would bother me. My parents actually have very quiet voices unless they're yelling.

You do pay for what you get though. The big gyms have a ridiculous amount of weights that will be more readily available, smarter trainers, probably a pool/gym/classes/etc. However, if all you need is a set of freeweights, and a couple cardio machines, just go with the smaller gym.

I live with my parents as well, and the biggest problem I have is the volume of my mother's LAUGH.

I can hear her from my room, even when my headphones are on. It makes movie watching painful.

And since she finds everything funny, it happens a lot. And its always a drawn out laugh, like the Wicked Witch of the West started to cackle but suddenly found something amusing and had to change her timbre.

If I wasn't faced with such crushing debt, I'd find my own place. As it is, I just have to do this for a while: :frustrated:

THey can range from everywhere, but make sure you ask for their certifications, and that it's not just a jo-blo that works out a lot. They should set you up on a workout that is good for you, and they may even try to get you on a nutrition plan as well. Might be worth it because they'll be one other person to keep you on track.

But they can be costly.

I hate listening to my family watch movies. They're watching Inglourious Basterds in the other room, and all I hear is "who's she?", "where are they now?", "what did he just say", "what country are they from", etc. ad nauseum, and of course every one of Brad Pitt's lines is absolutely uproarious.

Could be fake, but worth checking out. Some of the quotes are pretty funny.

I understand and empathize with you, Rowland, but to be fair to Brad Pitt, he does have some pretty great moments in that movie

The personal trainer I got is once a week for year. I got it at a deal and my parents are paying for it cause they'll pay for me getting thin.

My mother watches awesome movies, my dad watches awesome foreign movies, but they both love themselves mindless action movies as well.

Also, best conversation I heard at school today as I was walking past. Two girls and mind you this is in Utah.

1: I dunno, I just wish there was more sex scenes.
2: No keep watching, I guarantee you there are more sex scenes in later episodes.
1: There better be cause my patience is wearing thin.

My dad's favorite movie ever, and by ever I mean EVER, is Peacemaker. This has been an ongoing joke between friends and family for years. He still brings it up. In fact, just a couple weeks ago he called me to ask if I wanted to come over and watch it.

Both of my parents will basically see anything that isn't foreign. Dad has bad eyes and can't read the subtitles well, and Mom thinks she isn't concentrating enough about what's going on screen. She'll see it if its German though since she can understand that.

They both loved Inglorious Basterds.

Dad will see anything with certain actresses (Kate Hudson, Jennifer Connelly), and Mom will see anything with certain actors (George Clooney, Brad Pitt). That makes me laugh.

My dad has good taste in film, but narrow. He speaks Italian and is especially into Fellini.

My mother doesn't have time for film, but when she does enjoy something, it's usually pretty good, but not especially challenging or strange. She likes stright-forward, chronological movies without too many characters and without explosions. So: thoughtful, well-written, psychological dramas are her favorite. Based on literature a plus.

My mother prefers soaps. I don't know what my dad likes, but I remember back in high school whenever I was watching any Pacino or DeNiro movie in the upstairs living room—and it'd be my first time—my dad would yell "Is that Heat (or something else)?" from downstairs and get it right every time. He apparently can tell what Pacino/DeNiro movie I'm watching just from the dialogue in one random scene.

My parents have been watching a much better class of movies since they got Netflix. I was shocked recently when my mom was talking about how much she liked City of God.

My dad like war movies, and his favorite movie is American Graffiti because it reminds him of his youth. My mom watches soap operas, movies from her childhood for the sake of nostalgia, and when she watches new stuff, she can have pretty good taste. For instance, she loved Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, watched it several times over the span of a few days in fact.

My mother IS a personal trainer.
