It's quite something to see Scorpion and gang causing bloodshed in....warehouses, workfloors and ordinary street corners. :)
When someone says "looks good" about a video game, it doesn't mean they're talking about the graphics. It looks good - as in, it looks like it is fun and good. This is especially true when someone hasn't played the game yet, and therefor cannot state that it plays well, but can only comment on what they have seen with their eyes. Therefor, it looks good.
Here's some encouraging stuff about that:
In the article I read, they emphasized that the entire game is very much about the developing of the relationship between the man and the girl, where they referenced The Road and Road to Perdition and figured out how to translate that emotional connection into gameplay. Which is why they hired Alejandro Gonzales Inarritu's composer to do the soundtrack instead of a horror guy.Quote:
On release of the initial trailer for the game Dead Island, the team was concerned that the two games would be largely similar, both exploring the human or emotional side to an apocalyptic event. However, on release of the aforementioned game, the team realised that the gameplay did not match up to that showed by the trailer; by contrast, lead designer Neil Druckmann feels that the trailer for The Last of Us is "very representative of what we're going for"
These days, ambitious stuff like that interests me more about games than something that just looks fun to play, so I like to get excited when studios announce that kind of achievement. Same reason why my other anticipated game of 2012 is The Last Guardian.

Amazon.fr accidentally hints at call of duty: black ops 2?
Jeez, "Asura's Wrath" sounds like it could very well be one of D_Davis' most hated games of all time.
Man I really need to read my new issue of GI. To the bathroom, away!
Changed my warrior to a full-on rogue assassin last night in Amalur, and, yeah. I like this SO much better. Fighting is ridiculously fast-paced now. Love it.
1 game breaking bug and numerous, numerous minor bugs in Amalur are beginning to test my patience. Now I have a set of equipment that won't leave my inventory no matter what. Sometimes the sound gets choppy and I have to restart. Irritating. I hope there's a patch soon.
I've encountered one bug so far - I was in the middle of combat and the framerate basically came to a grinding halt. It was probably at about 1 FPS. It took a few minutes to walk away from the enemies and area, and then everything was fine.
I'm playing on the PS3.
I'm talking about the fact that it's apparently not much of a game, rather an interactive anime.
The "gameplay" is incredibly limited, and sprinkled between incredibly lengthy cutscenes.
Which is, if I remember correctly, like one of your #1 dislikes in gaming - games trying to be movies.
I think that's precisely the reason why he said he wants to watch someone else play.
Speaking of MGS, I keep forgetting I have the HD Collection sitting next to my PS3 waiting to be opened. Going to have to wait until after March 6th.
Finished my 2nd play through of ME2 tonight. Finished in 48 hour gaming hours, recruited everyone, kept everyone alive, saved the Normandy's crew, and fornicated with Miranda. (my first play through I got close to Tali). My saved game files are secure for ME3 now, although I keep wondering if I have enough time for a 3rd play through full renegade.
Dang. I think I lost the crew and two members...
Yeah, I'm currently trying to do a "perfect" play through on the insane difficulty right now to set up ME3
Lair of the Shadow Broker is still awesome
2 weeks out! I don't like this trailer because it shows Shepard using melee attacks more than he should
