Yeah, you're a smart guy. You're gonna waltz right through those courses.

I was really lucky. This was the last year that my university was going to hold my credits from the community college where I started (I guess ten years is the cut-off? I didn't know they lapsed, unless I misunderstood). So I'm officially a sophomore. Still, it should take me about three years to finish my bachelor's degree, and another two for my masters. Hooray for putting off school for no good reason whatsoever and not finishing until my mid-thirties! :|
Those don't just look easy, they also look kinda fun. Great way to start and kind of figure out your schedule (when to study, where to study, how long to study before you burn out.) I think you'll have a blast.
Good for you KF. I went back to school when I was 42; transferred all the credits I could to go for a BA in Computer Science and still had to put in close to 3 years. And believe me, it wasn't easy getting back in the swing of things. Most of the kids in class were young enough to be...well, my kids. Although, there were also older folks going back for degrees, so it wasn't only students straight out of high school. Took out over 30K in student loans, got my degree, and promptly found work. First time in my life I was actually "earning my age." I will have all those loans paid off in the summer of next year.
Work hard, persevere, and the sky's the limit. I admire your decision.
Thanks for the encouragement. It's really appreciated. I just got to a point where, aside from my family, I looked at my life and realized that I wasn't happy, and can't do this for the rest of my life. It was always my goal to be a college instructor/professor, and after qualifying for FAFSA, which takes a huge chunk out of my tuition, I decided to make it happen.
My mom locked herself out of my grandmother's bedroom, and couldn't figure out how to get in. She fetched me and I jimmied the lock with a book club card.
So, I'm a rock star.
Yeah, just like that.
You'll still be working while you go to school full-time? And your kids must still need some raising, so you'll presumably be doing that too. Damn. You're my new hero.Quote:
Thanks. I thought they looked kind of fun too. I have a lot of down time at work, so study/homework time is going to work out really well for me.
That's awesome KF. You pretty much picked the exact courses that I likely would have taken if I were back to school too.
Do good, KF.
And have fun.
That's a lot with the kids and all. I worked 1 full-time and 1 part-time job and went to school full-time (I basically had 2 days off a month for 3 years), and that was dang hard, but I couldn't imagine doing that with a family; I wasn't married yet when I did it.
That's some good dedication.
The time will certainly fly by - so try to enjoy it.
:)
In a television/door fight, I don't think the television would win.
At 26, I was nervous about going back and getting my bachelors. I was all like, I'm gonna be over 30, probably, when I get a fucking B.A. What the hell? Then I realized that I've kinda been saying things like that since I was like 23, and I was just going to be keep pushing those numbers up. Figuring out that I don't have to have a job in the film industry (or have a film degree) to be happy was pretty key for me, though I still wouldn't mind if that career path workd out somehow.
Good luck KF. You'll do well, I'm sure. Undergrad is pretty easy stuff, shouldn't be tough for you. You mentioned wanting a masters, that's gonna be a bit harder, to be sure. Hope you keep focused on what you want to accomplish. Let your family in on your progress and journey, don't lock the door cause you gotta study. Metaphorically speaking, but...
I have a semester (or two) left before I get my AA and then I'm hoping to transfer to UC Irvine Fall 2011 to complete my English major. I still have no idea what I want to minor in.
Are we posting class schedules? Because I totally am.

Finishing school early is overrated. I like school. The tuition parts a bitch, though. The whole job at the end of the road is just a reward to me. I just feel really out of the loop and want to learn as much as possible.
I will not buy a 3D television until they are the only televisions sold and I have no choice.
Hm, I should really call my school about where my degree is.
