Portishead - "The Rip"
a-ha - Forever Not Yours.
CocoRosie - Japan
Birchville Cat Motel - "Gunpowder Temple Of Heaven"
Epic and amazing. This might just be my favorite album/track of the year so far.
I haven't heard this one yet! Kinda went of Kneale recently year cos of his absurd output; he started to become consistently solid but rarely amazing. Will investigate this one.
Have you heard Beautiful Speck Triumph? His masterpiece.
(not listening to anything now, forgot to bring my iPod to uni today)
This is the first I've heard from him, but I'm planning on hearing more soon. I'll pick up Beautiful Speck Triumph post haste. Gunpowder is just a single 40-minute track, but its worth the bit of patience it requires. It helps that I heard it while half-conscious, baking in the early afternoon sun, so I'll have to see how it holds up in a more ordinary setting.
"Variations for Winds, Strings and Keyboards" - Steve Reich
(one of my absolute favorite things in the whole world)
Dirty Projectors - Police Story
Windmill - "Fluorescent Lights"
Seefeel - "Climactic Phase #3"
Alpha Team - Speed Racer
"Night in the City" - ELO
EDIT: Plus! "Here We Are" - Joe Hisaishi
Danielson - "Did I Step On Your Trumpet"
Slow Show, The National
People Like Us - Millenium Dome
Lots of Roisin Murphy
But more specifically this song Off and On
The Muslims - "Bright Side"
Common Market - "Black Patch War"
Mates of State - "My Only Offer"
Meh.
Einsturzende Neubauten - "Weil Weil Weil"
Rubies - I Feel Electric
U2 - Lemon
One of my favorite songs... and favorite music videos too.
Nadja - "Incubation/Metamorphosis"
As a full length, I think Touched works better in moments of tranquility than with any activity. "Stay Demons" is a fandamntastic song, but the rest of this album isn't quite clicking yet. I think I prefer the last Jesu album to this one, though I need to research Nadja's catalogue more, especially given their excess in albums...
