I can see the persistent internet thing being a problem for people (and the designer's comments to this effect were hilarious in a "deal with it" kind of way, even though I see his point), but the other two seem like the natural course of action for a developer who made and supported a game called Diablo II. Mods? Seriously? Who mods Diablo for any reason other than to exploit the game's economy? And an auction house with real money? Again, Blizzard trying to respond to the meta-economy that evolved around their previous game.
