I'm really looking forward to seeing what this puppy can do.
It would also rock socks if Retro were to return to the "Metroid" franchise with some super tech.

It'd be pretty nifty if this streaming controller thingy could be substituted with a 3DS. Also if this were to have backwards compatability with the Wii and Gamecube.
It might be a bit weird, but I really hope that this doesn't prompt MS and Sony to rush out new systems. Console generations should really be longer than 6 years.
The biggest thing I'm concerned about with Nintendo pushing the tech envelope with the 3DS and the Wii successor is that there will soon be no platforms on which developers can make games for cheaper. Game development is getting far too expensive.
There is no way Nintendo pushes the tech envelope or alters their motion controller agenda. They had a few things going for them that their competitors didn't, out of the gate, primarily affordability, mass apppeal and perhaps most importantly profitability, which I really don't think is something Nintendo plans on changing (they love money, i.e. I don't think they'll ever want to sell a console at a loss ever again).
I'm convinced these companies are no longer in competition, as far as hardware goes. Sony and Microsoft granted, I suppose, but there are rumors now that even Microsoft is re-evaluating its next-gen plans and is not too keen on selling another console at a loss after the 360 fiasco.
My prediction: Nintendo releases a new console that is HD capable and effectively able to compete with 360/PS3 on a technological level, which means it's both affordable and profitable in today's market like the Wii was five years ago, and will have absolutely no effect on the timelines for Sony and Microsoft, which are currently enjoying the benefits of an extended console cycle.
Next-gen metroid prime. The mind boggles!
PSN will be down for maintenance for a few days. Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck that.
It needs it. Mine has been conking out on me sporadically the last week or so, though I don't use PSN very often, so it isn't a big problem. I'll just get an error message while I'm playing a game or watching something on Netflix, though it's not my internet, as the video isn't interrupted at all.
Even though the PSN is down you can still watch netflix. It twice told me to sign in and then said psn is down but it still kept going on to my queue and I watched an episode of Glee.
Yeah I figured out how to bomb through the Netflix login. Hasn't worked with Hulu though.
My wife has showed interest in Dance Central so I managed to snag a Kinect for $85 shipped. When it shows up I'll let you guys know what I think of it. The only game besides Dance Central I'm interested in coming up is The Gunstringer and Child of Eden. I figure if we don't care for it I can at least sell it and get my money back.
I am so goddamn tickled with the new Mortal Kombat. I take back the whole, "It's not cheap anymore." No, it's still kinda cheap. That's the MK we all know and love. The characters do feel very balanced, however. Not a whole lot of glitches, although it has locked up a couple times.
I am playing through over and over on the easiest level just to open up everybody's end sequences. I've unlocked most fatalities and babalities.
The Dead Pool is a thing of beauty. Watching the person resurface, screaming and melting is something straight from Raiders of the Lost Ark.
There are a couple stages that are pits that I didn't even know about. There's one stage that was a pit in prior versions, but isn't a pit now. A little disappointing. However, the Underworld lava pit fatality makes up for it.
I've got almost the entire krypt unlocked. There's nothing new or surpising. Just alternate costumes you can unlock by beating the ladder anyway and some concept drawings.
I hope they add a lot when it comes to DLC.
Continuing my attempt to beat the "Halo: Reach" campaign on Legendary.
I've beaten about half of the levels, but damn, there are some that seem near impossible. The "Nightfall" level is hard enough on easier difficulties...I have no idea how I'll beat this bad boy on Legendary.
But it's quite a testament to the pacing and design of the campaign that I've played through it 4 times since the game was released in the fall, and I'm not even close to sick of it.
I think we're bottling the beer next weekend, and had talked about doing another one after the beer was ready to drink.

There's no such thing as a beer with too much hops.
And if there is, I haven't discovered it yet.
Totally fucking confirmed now:
