enslaved is a hell of a game
Batman is such a boring character in Arkham Asylum. It's kind of a bummer. Cool game otherwise.
Also, not that this observation is breaking new ground at all, but it bears saying that Hamill's interpretation of the Joker is pretty much the best one out there. The WB folk (Timm, et al) certainly found a way to satisfyingly skirt the line between loopy jokester and serial killer, but Hamill absolutely NAILS it with his tone. One of the best ongoing voice acting gigs, for sure.
Played the first part of Alan Wake. The dialogue isn't so hot, but I'm finding the game pretty interesting. Neat atmosphere.
If you have a PS2 (or a backwards compatile PS3 [do they make these?]), I'd just try to find me a copy of the Silent Hill games, meg. They just don't make them creepier. Well some point and click and text adventure games are very scary indeed, but I'm willing to bet you're not looking for something that different.
Love Hamill's Joker. One of my favorite parts in Arkham Asylum was:

The Harley tapes were actually lifted from the "Mad Love" episode of the cartoons. I got a geek hard-on when I realized that.
Man, those tapes are so much fun to listen to. The Zsasz ones are particularly creepy.
winston, i know you like platforming games, so you should probably get enslaved
reminds me of uncharted and the prince of persia games
Isn't "Alan Wake" supposed to have some stellar DLC, though?
If I remember correctly, one of the DLC episodes got higher reviews than the full game.
Okay, but you could also look at it like it was never good in the first place. Alan Wake never got particularly head-turning reviews, so I'd never feel compelled to buy the game and then spend even more money and buy the DLC (which should really just be free in the first place if they didn't want to make another game).
Eh...I don't agree, MacGuffin.
I absolutely loved "Battlefield: Bad Company 2", but the "Vietnam" DLC is even better than the game. It doesn't mean the original was bad at all - far from it.
And while "Alan Wake" didn't get stellar reviews, there have still been a number of people who loved the hell out of it, even saying it's one of the best games of the year.
As for DLC being free, I'd love that (as would anyone) but the fact remains that the company worked more to produce it. People need to get paid that for that work.
Though I do love the way "BC2" did their DLC, where those who legitimately bought the game got the first few DLC map packs for free as a "thank you" for supporting the game financially.
I think that's a model that should be used more often.
I do still think a lot of DLC is much too expensive, though - like being charged $15 for 3 new maps and 2 old ones in "MW2".
Fair enough. That Battlefield: Vietnam thing sounds pretty fun.
In other news, Gran Turismo 5 is probably the best racing game I've ever played (although I don't know if I'm counting CTR). I just got it yesterday and haven't really done too much else since. I'm only up to using a Mercedes-Benz, but I know I haven't even come close to scratching the surface. The physics and controls are absolutely incredible and I'm playing on a Sixaxis controller! I really don't even regret not having a wheel since the controls are so fluid. Finally, while I've only played the Forza demo, this probably blows it out of the water not just based on physics, but I'd be very surprised if Forza were able to beat GT5's cars list and the many tracks in GT5, which are incredibly designed. The fact that this game has been getting 8.0s for some old tree and people textures is mind-boggling.
That's great to hear, MacGuffin. I was a big fan of the "Gran Turismo" series back on the PSX - the first and second games were regular "go-to's" for me for several years.
It was kind of disheartening to read the (relatively) low scores for it by reviewers.
I'm not sure it has more cars than "Forza 3" though. By my count, it's nearing 1,000 now, and there's still more cars and tracks being released almost every month.
I didn't know that. I'm not necessarily claiming GT5 has more cars (nor am I trying to imply Forza 3 is anywhere near a bad game), I'm just saying I think I prefer the Japanese-leaning cars list of GT5. Also, the premium cars in GT5 are impeccably designed--I've been playing onboard camera and the inside of the car looks so detailed. I can't wait to race in the rain so I can use my windshield wipers! While the standard cars may not look as good and may not have the onboard camera, I still think the cars in GT5 are nothing to complain about, considering what they give you.
One more thing about it: I traded in an Alfa Romeo for a Mercedes-Benz and it was cool to note that it felt significantly weightier and handled better than the Alfa Romeo.
Yeah, I love the range of subtle to drastic differences between cars in these sim racers.
I've always been big into racing games, and I love both simulation and arcade-style.
You know what was a great series? "Ridge Racer". I loved those games.
