in consistently being 5 years behind the video game curve i picked up RE4 and okami for wii last weekend. loving both, i had played a bit of RE4 on gamecube but it's even more fun with the motion control aiming.
Oh shit!
R*'s new project with it's groundbreaking facial-animation system .. INSANE!

I'm about 25 hours into The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and it's really a great fun and complex game. I've actually only played the original Zelda and Zelda II, so after finishing this I'm definitely going to go back and play the SNES and N64 games.
Wow, those facial animations are pretty amazing.
If that technology could be combined with super high-res texturing, I think we'd be getting pretty damn close to photo-realistic video games.
I've pretty much resigned myself to the fact that the "Half Life" franchise is dead.
I know, deep down, that this probably isn't true. But the waiting is getting to be too much. It's a little ridiculous.
I'd rather just believe that it's all done and over with, so when a new game does eventually come around, my expectations aren't affected by "IT TOOK YOU ___ YEARS TO MAKE THIS SO IT HAD BETTER BE FUCKING GOOD."
Liek Duke Nukem Forever being released this spring? :)
Gabe already said there's gonna be three big announcements this year. One of which was already made. I expect one to be about HL3 and the other to be about CS2.
Yeah but there's a prime example of a game that will never live up to the expectations of fans who have been waiting for it for more than a decade.
It's been so long, in fact, that "Duke Nukem" - as both a character, and a style of gameplay - is totally out of date. By like, 3 generations of video gaming.
Unless this game cooks me a steak and gives me a handblaster while I'm waiting for my meal, it's going to be disappointing.
What about finishing the "Half Life 2" story, first?Quote:

Have they just given up on that?
DNF was started from scratch three times. I think the general public is aware the game hasn't been just 14 straight years in the making. I for one am a long time Duke Nukem fan (obviously) and still expect to have fun playing it. The videos released confirm this.
HL3 will be continuing HL2. I believe they are working on a full length game and turned the third episode into a 12 hour epic journey based on the comments released by Gabe over the last 2 years.
I just checked and I have every Valve game on Steam except Counter Strike: Condition Zero and Half-Life Deathmatch: Source. Is there any reason at all other than an OCD need to complete the collection to get them?
I'm a huge "Duke Nukem" fan, too, but the fact that it was started from scratch 3 times doesn't change the fact that we have been waiting 14 years for it.
A 14 years wait is a 14 year wait. And I would argue that no, the general public is not aware of the multiple production restarts. I also think they don't really care about that kind of stuff. Gamers know, and gamers care, but not the "general public".
And that's good news about "HL3". I'm glad they aren't going to release some 3 hour "HL2: Episode 3" and then make us wait another 4 years for "HL3".
Making a full-length, new game is definitely the way to go.
Can't wait!
IMO, (and I have over 1500 hours logged of CSS) Counter-strike: Source is the best, jump in, jump out game in existence. It loads in 5 seconds. You're in a server in another 5 seconds and you'replaying under 2 minutes. On top of the dozens of mods available for the game, for $10 or whatever it's going for on Steam, it's 110% worth it.
Don't quote me on that, but that's what I think is gonna happen. Gabe has slipped up a few times mentioning; "We are re-evaluating our episodic approach" and "there are reasons why we aren't saying anything about the franchise". A couple of other things too, like they came out and specifically said that it wouldn't show up at E3 2010 "for a reason". 2011 seems to be the year for announcements for Valve. I'm hoping...
Have you really been waiting for 14 years, though? I mean, seriously? You've thought about it and longed for it for 14 years? When I think of waiting for something, I think of actively waiting. Yes, it's been 14 years since the last one, but how many minutes of those last 14 years have been spent actively thinking about and waiting for for the game?
Just approach it like any other game, and if it is at least good you won't be disappointed.
It's just a game.
Ocarina of Time is a top ten of all time game.
Took the 360 to a friends and downloaded Perfect Dark (YES!), Galaga, and Super Contra. Plus updated a bunch of games. So cool. Can't wait till I have it online all the time. Sometime this spring after we move...
