I don't know how I feel about games like these.

It's not unusual for a violent video game to spark controversy. But one new game in Germany has unleashed an unusually bitter debate -- so much so that its release has now been postponed.
The game, titled "1,378 (kilometers)," is controversial because of its unusual subject matter. It allows the player to take on the role of an East German border guard on the "death strip" that formed the internal German border during the Cold War -- and shoot people trying to escape from communist East Germany.

Metro 2033 is so damn immersive. When it goes topside, it never becomes bad, but its underground atmosphere is remarkable, oppressing. It's like every huge door that is opened before and closed after you is like that door in Half-Life 2 that leads to Ravenholm. You swallow hard, know you need to move on, but would rather remain in the company of the fellow humans you're about to leave behind. Little touches abound such as rats scurrying out of a doorway that has been probably left unopened for a long time and a perpetual haze seems to have invaded these tunnels. When an electronic disturbance (it's called anomalie) appears in the game, you'll believe crazy shit can happen in a place this desolate.
despite the extreme-looking, grim and gritty protagonist, enslaved looks to be a really fun platformer. the environments are way more colorful than i expected
So I bought this yesterday, because it's Metroid, and damned if it isn't the clusterfuck I feared it would be. It's not that the environments are boring (stainless steel hallways), and it's not that the item grabs are depressingly easy (actual dots on the map), and it's not that the graphics are sub-par (there's nothing Prime-worthy). It's that Samus Aran, the fearless bounty hunter who always struck me as an intergalactic reverse-gender Man with No Name...is now a whiny little bitch who offers repetitive, passion-free monologues about her relationship with a commanding officer and her sadness over the Baby Metroid (the same one she quickly gave away in Super Metroid). She sounds like Bella from Twilight. Not only that, but that commanding officer is the only thing standing between you and stuff like Power Bombs and Screw Attacks. You have to wait for him to allow you to use them.
I'm gonna keep on playing, cause I'm only a couple hours in, but seriously. What the FUCK.
so addicted to fifa 11

Alex Navarro is now fully part of the Giant Bomb team.
Awesome.
I was just watching Alex and Jeff do a quick look of "Quantum Theory".
The game looks terrible, but the video was hilarious, and I got a great sense of nostalgia hearing these two guys working together again.
I also love that Greg Kasavin drops by every once in a while.

Think I'm going to play some Fallout 3 now. I started a new game with a super evil character named Walter Bruce and I'm level 16-ish and just got through the second to last quest in the main storyline and I now feel like I can take on anyone, especially with Charon as a bodyguard, so now I'm going to go exploring and rediscovering settlements I found in the last game, taking careful consideration as to my choices based on how I feel my character would act. Pretty awesome game that I was initially wrong about, and I'll probably give Fallout: New Vegas a try eventually too (hell, maybe I'll go back and actually beat Oblivion).
