I saw those screen shots this morning. It looks pretty awesome.
I love the hyperrealism.
Is it just me, or is this Bio-Shock game unbelievably massive? I've been playing it for what feels like many many many hours and it doesn't appear that I'm even halfway done.
I am rather slow-going, I admit. This is the first FPS that I've really got into, believe it or not, since Wolfenstein.
I still haven't beaten it. To tell you the truth, I think it is a little too long. I am going to complete it someday.
I do wish it were shorter though, like CoD4. It would make an awesome 6 hour experience, one that you could go through in a single sitting, to really simulate the horror-film quality.
To me, the scope doesn't seem epic enough to justify its length. On the contrary, something like Half Life 2, I feel, totally justifies it's length. It feels expansive and epic.
Bioshock feels smaller and more intimate, and I would prefer it if it were shorter, perhaps something like Portal.
It's a great game though, for sure. Totally engaging, and genuinely scary.
Honestly, those Mirror's Edge shots look pretty lame to me. I don't think you're looking at the right games, TMGS.
Plus, nothing at all is known about the game except for a few screen shots.
So I don't know what it means by "more games like Mirror's Edge," as if the game has even been played yet...
Strange.
Here is a list of 10 awesome games, with a ton of variety, artistry, and awesome gameplay.
Should hold you over until Mirror's Edge comes out...
1. Darwinia - minimalist strategy
2. Jet Set Radio Future - extreme-sports/platformer/adventure
3. Panzer Dragoon Saga - rails shooter
4. Beyond Good and Evil - 3D action/adventure
5. Dungeon Keeper 2 - strategy/god game
6. CoD4 - FPS
7. Overlord - strategy/adventure/RPG
8. R-Type Delta - side scrolling shooter
9. N+ - puzzler/platformer
10. Resident Evil 4 - survival horror
Ah cool, Fort Frolic was my favorite level. I thought it looked fantastic and had tons of creepy atmosphere. There is some great use of music too in this level especially near the ending.
The sound design is indeed pretty good. Bioshock took the production of voice acting almost to a whole new level for videogames. I loved it. :)
Fort Frolic is probably the best part of the game, but I think the most visually attractive is Arcadia. I love that area.
I don't mind the game's overall length much, but it could be shorter. The final segments do have some lame stuff, like that escort mission. Blegh. But I actually think the game would benefit more from trimming some of the earlier segments a bit, like the wharf area, which is a narrative blunder and goes on much too long, or a couple fetch quests (like the one in Arcadia, after the plants are killed).
The new issue of Play has Mirror's Edge on the cover with a pretty big article with creators and lots of screenshots. It looks and sounds amazing.
I'm not too interested in "Mirror's Edge", but I've always found parkour kind of lame, so I guess it'd be like trying to get D_Davis hyped for a Fifth Element basketball game.
Edit: nevermind.
N+ may be the bet possible way you could spend your money on XBLA.
I cannot believe how much stuff this game gives you for $10. And so far, it is all good.
It takes time to learn how to control the ninja, and use his inertia and momentum to your advantage. It's a puzzle-platformer, and one you need to spend time with. But once you get it, it feels absolutely amazing to pull off the moves and navigate the incredibly devious levels.
Plus, its got 4-player co-op on everything, and you can make your own levels. It has more game, and more features, than many full priced retail games.
After playing it for a few hours last night, I would have gladly paid $50 for it.
New screens from Aliens: Colonial Marines. I can't wait for this.

^^^---I pray that the gameplay is as awesome as the screen shots.
No doubt. It looks like Doom 3 through the eyes of the Aliens world...in other words...pretty much awesomest anything ever. :)
