It does a lot for me. Last summer, it helped me move.
Dumbest things I did this weekend, ranked:
3. Improperly reassembled mouse cage after cleaning it: chased mouse around room for three hours trying to get it back inside.
2. Ran out of sunlight for gardening and went back inside. Put my jeans through the laundry with a packet of green bean seeds still in the pocket.
1. Sliced lemons for dinner. Got tired a couple of hours later. Rubbed eyes.
There's a part of me that is sympathetic to those who push for school uniforms--I like the idea, really. I wonder if that comes because neither I nor my mother ever really had an idea of how to dress me when I was in school. But since I don't have kids and therefore don't really have a stake in it, I'm not looking for a debate on it.
There's an even bigger part of me that has a school uniform fetish. I can't explain it. I was never enrolled in a school with uniforms or in close proximity to a Catholic school. But I've absorbed it nonetheless.
fetish aside, i like school uniform in general. perhaps it's growing up in thailand.

While we're in the neighborhood, I'll mention that I discovered recently that I have kind of fetishized long, plain skirts, courtesy--I'm sure--of Mormon female missionary dress code.
Now, now. You should know better than to be reading Random Thoughts while sipping.

Hm, I wore school uniforms for the 12 years of my education. What's the big deal, y'all?
But that probably explains why I don't have a schoolgirl uniform fetish. I saw it every day growing up.
As someone who whore a uniform all through high school, though it was painfully repressive on the point of creativity and expression, it made getting up in the morning and getting ready for school SO much easier. Also, it diminished some (not all) bullying/ostracizing/segregation based on how you dress, which can be really harsh and cruel among girls.
The only time I've ever had an opinion on uniforms was when I spent a semester in London, and we were right near the French embassy. At the end of the block was a private French girls' school, for what looked like 5-10 year olds, and they all wore matching purple dresses.
Cutest thing ever.
after a long, hard self-searching, i come to this realization that my fetish in on all kinds of uniform.
