Does anyone know anywhere online that sells old PC games at good prices?
There are a few old PC RPGs I used to own and would like to get back. Two of them were stolen, one I sold when I was desperate for cash.
I'd like the get the "Diablo" Battle Chest - the one which contains "Diablo", "Diablo II" and the expansion set(s).
I'd also like to the the "Baldur's Gate" collection, and the "Icewind Dale" collection.
I just finished this and Warhead and I enjoyed the both. really short though. But you're right about the suits powers being fun as hell and how they force you to use some of the powers to get by certain areas. I wish they pumped out a third expansion. Seems like a waste of an engine.
"Final Fantasy" is a JRPG and totally different from "Fallout 3" or other western RPGs.
With a world as vast and open as that of post-apocalyptic Washington D.C., the help with direction was welcome. Plus, as someone mentioned earlier, it makes sense that you'd have radar in your PipBoy.
I didn't know we're only comparing Western RPGs. I can name 30 RPGs better than Fallout 3, mixed genres included. I'm not saying F3 didn't capture the feel of the Fallout Universe. Its lore and atmosphere... A+. The rest... Not so much. My radar example was just 1 thing that came to mind. There are other RPGs i like that have similar radar.
My list of great RPGs would go like this (no real order)...
Chrono Trigger (SNES)
Fallout 3 (X-360)
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (X-Box)
Baldur's Gate (PC)
Diablo II (PC)
Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door (GC)
Secret of Mana (SNES)
Icewind Dale (PC)
Super Mario RPG (SNES)
Phantasy Star IV (Sega Genesis)
Good list.
Fallout
Fallout 2
Mass Effect
KotoR
KotoR 2
Diablo
Diablo 2
Titan Quest
Titan Quest expansion
System Shock 2
Xenogears
FF7
FF8
FF9
FFX
FF12
FF2
FF5
WoW (it counts right?)
LotRO
STALKER
Clear Sky
the Witcher
Chrono Trigger
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker
Star Ocean 2
Deus Ex
Deus Ex 2
Neverwinter Nights
Neverwinter Nights 2
I really, really want to play "Stalker".
Looks so cool. Very bleak and atmospheric.
I'd recommend it. The atmosphere is wonderful. The problem initially were the bugs. There were loooooots. if you buy it on Steam now, the updates are included.
In fact, I wrote a review on it when it was first released.
Bought myself the King's Quest series updated for Windows XP for Christmas, and started playing IV: The Perils of Rosella from memory for funsies.
But DARNIT if I didn't forget to offer the bag of diamonds back to the dwarves before giving it away. I think I need to restart the stupid game now.
Still awesome, tho.
Oh, you just got started then ^^
I'm halfway through i guess, cleared worlds 2 and 3, i'm loving it. There are tons of hidden stuff and farming is actually quite fun! Finding the stones to upgrade my weapons and discover their hidden powers became a game within the game to me.
My strategy for The Tower Knight: running past him will leave you clear to hit his legs from behind, but since i'm a coward, i killed the crossbow enemies and shot my "soul arrows" from there. :P
Here's what may be a stupid question....
Amazon.com (US site) carries in stock a European-made version of all three of the original "Fallout" games for PC.
Here's the product page.
Does region encryption apply for DVD-ROM games?
It's an awesome deal and I'm thinking about getting it, sending it to Jen and having her bring it next time she comes up...but at the same time I don't want to waste $20 if they aren't going to work.
RPGs didn't start being fun for me until they became 3D. Fallout 3 specifically because it's 1st-person.
i just don't have the patience for rpg's, unless they're of the action variety like brave fencer musashi or kingdom hearts
i did get through a whole fire emblem game once. that was pretty addictive
I made it halfway through Final Fantasy VIII on the PSone, but interest waned massively after that.
Thanks. I wrote a lot of video game reviews for a long time. Enjoyed the hell out of it. I'm not a very good writer, but it was fun, and I got free games. Heres the rest of my old ones.
