I been keeping an eye on the production of that game...

I can't wait for INfamous.
I've been revisiting Twisted Metal: Black on PS2 recently. Such an awesome game...but why hasn't Sony came out with another Twisted Metal game in a while?
There's rumors one is in the works.
In July of 2007 Sony released this image with no explanation.

David Jaffe was quoted saying this...
Later in the year, they were doign research with fans to find out informationon the last two TW games, sounds like they wanted to improve on some aspects.Quote:
Because I am a TM junkie, I drooled over the first Twisted Metal. I remember in those days it was such a draw that you could go anywhere on the map. That and Warhawk really introduced open world for me so the thought of you being burned out and not making a PS3 version makes me sad. There is no reason for you to be sad.

We are trying to make a list of the issues/questions we want to address in the doc and we want to make sure we hit the things Twisted Metal fans want to know about. So: Not sure how many Twisted fans are reading this blog but if you are out there, let me know if you can help us out!
Yeah, Twisted Metal was one of the best things for the PS. Loved that game.
Oh, man, TM and me have many great memories together. I was counting the days anticipating the release of TM:Black on the PS2. Waiting was torture, but the game was so worth it.
I can't even begin to estimate the number of hours we spent playing TM2.
I love that Paris level, with the French national anthem electric guitar shredding.
Yeah, I played them all including part 4. Frankly, I don't understand why part 4 should be held in such high esteem and part 5 shouldn't. I enjoyed it even more, found it even more intense, but of course it does look even slicker. Both games are very similar methinks, favoring action over suspenseful horror.
I didn't like it as much. The levels were so wide open that at times I was bombarded by enemy fire without really feeling like I stood a chance to evade it. The original games had more grid-like (city based) playgrounds that made them more like a cat and mouse game and strategy seemed to play a bigger role.Quote:

I also hated the special weapon of the spectre car which could should missiles through walls. In any case, it felt really lame, but otherwise TM parts 1 & 2 were fantastic!

Looks really promising!
My problem with 5 is the lack of growth from the series. They threw out everything that made RE great. One annoying change is the new save system and throwing out the typewriter system from previous games. Obviously this had to happen because of the multiplayer/co-op, but the game is less survival because of it.
Now we've got automatic checkpoints. And when ever the game is saved at a checkpoint your inventory is also saved. So you cant go back and restart the level with the stuff you had before. You can't load a previous save file to turn the clock back a few minutes (which you could do in past games, and replay bosses, scenarios differently). You never know when you're going to take a step and trigger a cut-scene (and thereby a checkpoint) and lose the opportunity FOREVER of investigating a certain area to pick up treasures, cash and ammo. This dumbs down the game for long time fans.
RE4 was so polished, it would be a massive disappointment if the follow-up disappointed there. So, yes, the controls are sharp. The graphics are sharp. The voice acting is good...but the game goes way beyond the trademark silliness to ensure we're still playing an RE game. At one point early in the game, Chris finds the key to a certain room and just as he's about to use it, a boss materializes behind him. Instead of using the key, opening and door and locking the boss on the other side and moving on....Chris runs down a branching corridor to fight the boss... :frustrated:
When the action becomes this fast-paced it ceases to be RE. It's not even scary. This isn't RE 5. This isn't RE 4.5. It's RE 3.5
:)Eh I don't know. We've had a bunch of classic resi games (5!)and part 4 was the first one to break the trend in favor of more action so I think the franchise could have sustained another action packed entry. Enter Resident Evil 5.
I think nothing bad of the new save system, found the new save system simple and fair. I certainly felt like being locked in a thrilling battle for survival, don't feel that a save system is important in that regard.
You must be more hardcore than me.:)
I don't think so, It's just less survival horror now and more action. That's fine if they want to do that, but call it something else. It's not a Resident Evil game and it's certainly not survival horror. There's no strategy involved when playing 5, other than you're playing with someone.
I was also not a fan of the bosses at all in RE5. I thought they were lame, cheesy, thoughtless and very unorigional.
I'm getting close to finishing RE5, but I have some of the same complaints as duke. RE4 changed things up, and it worked extremely well. Resident Evil 5 seems to be attempting what RE4 did. The spot at the beginning was pretty awesome as you had to fight your way long enough for a helicopter to come in, other than that, it's pretty boring.
Although it finally had a scary part as you walked through the part with all the animals.
Big disappointment.
I'm at the boat part, and I doubt I'll play the game anymore.
Actually, I'll probably return it tonight to get credit for Sacred 2. I need some dungeon crawling action on the 360.
My brother lent me "Mass Effect", but I really haven't been playing anything lately.
I still haven't even finished "Okami". It's a great game, but perhaps the first time I've ever felt "this game is too damn long".
27 hours in and there are apparently several hours left to go.
