Yeah, I'm not losing my mind over that trailer like everyone else is. :\
My mind is already lost. I'm already lining up outside for tickets.
Me neither. It looks oh so epic and downbeat and Oh lord the apocalypse is upon us and people are staring into the sky or into the horizon with a look that says "we're so boned".
That's a tough sell (for me) after the sheer fun of Thor: Ragnarok. I have no idea how this movie is going to feel stakes-filled with so many superheroes on-screen.
I think Thanos is fucked already. Stay home Thanny, it ain't worth it. Watch a cricket match or something.
I'll watch it.
If the impression you get from watching that trailer is Thanos is already fucked, then Marvel has failed.
Looks pretty cool.
Best part: Peter gets his spider sense. The Homecoming director cries. Ha.
Duke you can't seriously think Thanos might win.
Oh are they still doing a part one and two? I thought they changed that.
If so, yes, Thanos will win for the time being. I assume the Tony's sad bit is some issue, disposable character death or hurt.
Looks appropriately Heavy and Meaningful and Iconic, but, crucially, doesn't look very inspired. Hey, a bunch of superheroes running towards the camera in unison!
Kill off some of the characters and then we'll talk.
I mean, it's not technically part I and part II, but they were originally going to film both movies simultaneously and then moved it to back to back. So they are sharing a lot of the same sets and presumably, takes place around the same time. With Captain Marvel being released in between those movies, we already know that takes place in the 90s and not related to the timeline. And then we have Ant-Man and the Wasp also being released in between both movies, which, we just learned today, will introduce the multiverse, which I predicted a few months ago. And that aligns with some special characters that may be pulled in to help defeat Thanos in Avengers 4.
I hope they are still doing a part one and two type story. That would allow Thanos to kidnap some mofos for the team to go rescue on his home turf.
So wait ... that's four Marvel movies released in the span of a year then? Or five?
Looks like...Avengers 3.
The fourth one is not going to be named Infinity War part 2 anymore. I don't know if I remember reading this wrong but it isn't named yet because it might constitue a spoiler. And I think it's been confirmed some will die (as contracts ran out and they want a soft reset).
It's a nice trailer but I am not in love with it too. It's more checking in on (Gary Oldman voice) EVERYONE that's going to be in the film rather than a proper story trailer. As far as trailers to mash-up films go, not as good as the first Civil War trailer.
Captain Marvel to save the day at end of Infinity War, right?
I think if any character is guaranteed to bite it (for good), it will be Loki. His redemption arc is over, so now he can die a hero.
Someone needs to. One of the biggest problems with these movies is that nothing really seems to be at stake; the superheroes are crazy overpowered and always win. Winning is not the issue in itself, but always getting there unscathed and just continually amassing more and more characters makes everything labored and tension-free. The fact that they couldn’t even bear killing off Warhammer, who is probably the MOST boring of the lot (though he has competition), was just ridiculous and undercut the entire airport fight.
I think someone big HAS to be offed in Infinity War. The series can not afford not to.
Like, it's not even a question of creativity if you wanna go the bad artless corporate route. There's age stuff and actors' wishes, and there's like a new generation of superheroes coming in more and more; it's a lot of logistics/budget/increasing salary hassle so it's easy to see how they need to make way and clear out some of the old guards.
Doesn't Evans want to quit playing Cap? Also RDJ is not getting any younger. Vision is obviously a goner. Hawkeye might also bit it, and I agree that Loki probably will die, too. Some of those trailer shots made it seem as if Spidey dies, although I know that is not going to happen. It would not shock me if Strange brings everyone back to life after they get murdered by Thanos.
Also that trailer was rad.
It's as if I'm seeing through this trailer. Like Trans says, the trailer is correct, expectedly big and morose, but I suspect the reality will be different. I remember when Ultron was touted as a big adversary, but he was ok.
I'm resigned to the reality that these big flashy superhero movies that play it straight, unlike say Thor III, can have truly formidable villains.
When you look at this trailer, you can see they're opting for a strength in numbers approach at the 1:57 mark in order to compensate for superhero overload, but I fear this scene, clearly touted as a major one, is going to be the exact opposite of thrilling.
War Machine clearly should have died in that movie and we wouldn't be having this debate.
I am not a fan of heroes dying.
Not a fan when it's played as an obvious gimmick like Superman's, but War Machine's death would have been actually useful for that plot's climax. He's a lot less useful alive.
