Don't know if anyone on here plays Civ but I just checked out the Warlords expansion for the first time. I know it's really old but I can't choose when a Sid Meier game is going to posses me. It just happens. Anyway, I don't usually check out expansions for strategy games as they don't change the game enough but this has some awesome additions. "The Great Wall" is gravy.

The game is incredible. It really is.
The story is so intriguing, and there is ALWAYS something to do, somewhere to go, something I haven't found or seen yet.
And I find it pretty cool that all bodies remain throughout the game. I went back to some of the first areas I explored, and the bodies of the people and monsters I killed are still there where I left them.
What the game lacks in some textures - things really don't look too great up close - and character movement, it makes up for in scope and storytelling ability.
I'm freaking loving it. I've been playing for about 15 hours now, and I've been playing most of the side-quests I'm presented with.
I finally found a bobblehead in Fallout 3. I don't think I'll be able to find the other 19 without a guide though. :lol:
Some background info on the vaults from Fallout:
Vault 8 - A control Vault, intended to open and re-colonize the surface after 10 years. Vault City is the result. Unfortunately.
Vault 12 - In order the study the effects of radiation on the selected population, the Vault Door was designed not to close. This is the Necropolis Vault... and the ghouls were the result.
Vault 13 - Intended to stay closed for 200 years as a study of prolonged isolation, the broken water chip forced the Overseer to improvise and use the Vault Dweller as a pawn. Later study of the Vault 13 records by the Enclave led them to their current plan to end the war.
Vault 15 - Intended to stay closed for 50 years and include people of radically diverse ideologies. Gathered from what you hear from Aradesh in Fallout 1, he has quite a bit of multi-cultural flavoring to his speech.
Vault 27 - This Vault would be overcrowded deliberately. 2000 people would be assigned to enter, double the total sustainable amount. The location of this Vault is unknown.
Vault 29 - No one in this Vault was over the age of 15 when they entered. Parents were redirected to other Vaults on purpose. Harold is believed to have come from this Vault.
Vault 34 - The armory was overstocked with weapons and ammo and not provided with a lock.
Vault 36 - The food extruders were designed to produce only a thin, watery gruel.
Vault 42 - No light bulbs of more than 40 watts were provided.
Vault 53 - Most of the equipment was designed to break down every few months. While repairable, the breakdowns were intended to stress the inhabitants unduly.
Vault 55 - All entertainment tapes were removed.
Vault 56 - All entertainment tapes were removed except those of one particularly bad comic actor. Sociologists predicted failure before Vault 55.
Vault 68 - Of the one thousand people who entered, there was only one woman.
Vault 69 - Of the one thousand people who entered, there was only one man.
Vault 70 - All jumpsuit extruders fail after 6 months.

Yeah, LAN Party is surprisingly good. I almost don't miss Jeff Green. So long as Robert Ashley stays on.
I still love 1Up Yours - it's my Saturday morning ritual. I listen to it while I am fixing breakfast and cleaning up. Also, John Davidson has been on on a semi-regular basis, which is awesome. Still miss the old days though with Garnett, John, Shane and Luke - that was an awesome show.
Gamers With Jobs and Giant Bombcast are my weekly fix. I like both of these a lot.
I'm also stoked that Retronauts is a weekly series now. Say what you will about Shane, but that dude is a walking video game encyclopedia. He's a total dork, but damn does that guy know his shit.

Well, it's out today. Hard to believe, really. It has been quite the long wait. Especially for ardent fans of the series. Unfortunately, I won't be able to find the time to pick it up and play it until late into December. Even so, the fact that a sequel is actually hitting store-shelves is beyond awesome, especially considering how the originals are an indelible, nostalgic part of my childhood...
If any of you pick it up, I'd be interested in reading some spoiler-free impressions.
what's the match-cutters opinions on Epic Games' Michael Capp idea of game endings becoming paid DLC, to fight against second-hand and rental gaming? You should get a key with your retail copy and only you could watch the ending for free, if you sell the game, the other guy would have to pay for the unlock code.

A friend of mine loved it but his opinion is suspicious, i've played the multiplayer Beta and the overall experience was... okay. Co-op starts awesome but it can get pretty tiresome and i've heard there's something like 20 hours of it, unless it has a better balanced pacing it must be a pain to finish. visuals were a mixed bag too, specially after watching those killzone multiplayer videos.Quote:

Just had my first unreadable disc error on my 360 while playing Fallout 3. I really hope my 360 isn't about to die on me.
Also, the Left 4 Dead demo is amazing! You can play a single player mode and an online co-op mode. I played a bunch of online co-op matches and it was tons of fun. I haven't checked the options yet, but can you turn of damage from friendly fire? I hate that.
