You are good people, Sycophant. Each one of us can unload some stress on the wrong people, or judge the people around us with an unfair level of contempt for simple disagreements. I think it's big of you to recognize this as a fault and work to improve, and I would sure hate to see something like this chase you away from the site again. Anyway, I always do a double-take when things get heated in here, because Match Cut is always so damned pleasant and peaceable. I almost never see things go beyond cheerful chiding or heated debate, and even those almost always end well.

I echo DaMU's sentiments. This is probably one of the most civil places on the Internet, and I don't like seeing people get worked up. Especially around this time of year. Think of the children.
Show me another forum this civil with equivalent activity, intelligent conversation and less moderation, and I'll show you a freaking unicorn. This place is the exception to the rule of public internet discourse.

Gotta agree with DavidSeven, well said. I've been on many forums throughout my internet life and all of them after going through a period of about nine months where it is at it's height of posting and content it'll fizzle out and become non-existent. Or other forums which will burn out because it becomes one gigantic fight. But this one though having fights here and there has stayed consistent and is the only forum I go to with any frequency anymore. Sometimes I'll do like Mara did and have a moment where I think, I'll branch out to another forum and then like Mara said it's just weird and I'll realize my mistake.
I visited Sven back in August and when we talked Match-Cut I was surprised when we did talk about arguments because there were people he's had somewhat consistent arguments with that I never have and there were people who I have consistent arguments with that he never had. But I do think that's one of the things that goes along with being in a community overall, like when you look back through groups of friends that you've had and there's that one guy in the group that you've never really connected with but everyone else seems to love and then you find out that two of the people you love apparently have never gotten along. Sycophant is one of my best friends in real life and so then this hooplah goes down and I find out him and duke have been going to town and I'm surprised cause I love that guy and want to hang out with him the next time I go back to Boston.
But yeah, anyways, I'm just saying it's all fascinating to me, I don't really have any fix for it, I just like the community overall even when I have disagreements with certain people.
