Whoa.
They've done a pretty incredible job staying within the look and style of the world Jackson and WETA created. It's nice to see variety and personality on the orc side, which felt only just barely touched on here and there in the movies. But did they need to secure any rights from the Tolkien estate to do these games? I can't imagine after the Hobbit fiasco that the family would be willing to ever allow the rights to get away from them again. I didn't play the first game, tho I watched some people play it. Looked fun. Looks like there might be more variety in this one.
Also, been dipping my toes back into gaming the past few months after years of not giving too many damns. Picking up on things I've missed that're considered classics. So far, Limbo was excellent, Braid stymied my brain too much (also, wasn't thrilled by the storytelling choice of just having you straight-up read text - more interested in holistic storytelling), almost done with the original Zelda (manageable once you make your own map with graph paper) and through two colossi in Shadow of the Colossus.
I started Zelda: Skyward Sword last night.
It doesn't run perfectly, but Breath of the Wild keeps getting better. I've stopped playing Horizon because it's all I want to play.
Pax East was a fun ride. Full Report later.

Yep, Zelda's got me good.
Took a break from Doom to get back into last of us remastered. So good. Yet to play left behind so excited to play something new in that universe.
This game is amazing.

Ive watched quite a few youtubes of people playing that game. Its...madness.
Tell me more about this game...
I got the PS4 remaster of the Tomb Raider reboot. What a fun game...
Tomb Raider is really fun. The sequel is also good.
I didn't think it was fun at all.
I thought it was the most fun ever.
The original Zelda was actually a little more fun to catalogue than to play through and finish, with so many of those old-school techniques for gaming intact. Killing enemies for rupies and hearts got dull (yes, there are medicine bottles), the puzzle clues were often confusing, and a few important item discoveries amounted to the equivalent of the original Metroid's bomb-everything tedium. The designers do a hell of a lot with a little (the item-switching is forward-thinking), but I think this is another series that really found its mojo on subsequent systems (huge fan of Link to the Past and Link's Awakening, before the series got too hand-holdy with its helper characters).
I haven't played it, but with Breath of the Wild's do-anything open world in everyone's mind (not hand-holdy at all btw), the original Zelda seems to be an important touchstone these days. I enjoyed your analysis but doubt I would enjoy the game.
I picked up the Breath of the Wild guide for Wendy, so 'she doesn't miss anything'.
350+ pages, loads of pictures, and loads of small print. There is a LOT to that game. Maybe I'll have to try it, without the guide of course #DarkSouls4Life
