This movie is efficient as hell. The story is focused, doesn't talk down to the audience and isn't sentimental until it absolutely has to and outside of a couple really noticeable anachronisms, it manages to deliver an exciting and heartfelt story of adventure and survival anchored by a driven female character and a clean, geometrical and distinctive enough flash-animated visual style.
Considering how much is set up on the homefront at the start, the ending feels too abrupt when it only comes back to that in ending-credit montage. But the main drive of the lead's journey is appropriately rousing and rendered in captivating animation that reminds me of Cartoon Saloon works. Plus it tonally balances well between reality and adventure in a kid's film for such expedition, including one dose of bittersweet revelation near the end. 7.5/10
