Thanks to Statham, I am only slightly more interested in watching this than I am in rewatching the original. Which still nets me a sum of none interested.

The original is pretty damn solid, and highly entertaining. The remake will suck hard, if only because I highly doubt Anderson has any understanding of the nunces of satire, which was one of the main reasons why the original was a step above the average violent grindhouse flick.

Exactly.

The original is incredible.

Goddammit. Don't tell me I'm the only person on this forum who didn't care for Death Race 2000.

Goddammit. Don't tell me I'm the only person on this forum who didn't care for Death Race 2000.I wouldn't say I didn't care for it, but it did leave me indifferent. I like the idea of it (both conceptually and for its low-budget ingenuity) more than I did watching the movie.

Anyway, I don't hate Anderson, so I'd like to see this turn out okay. AvP was fucking dreadful, but I like Resident Evil, Mortal Kombat, and Event Horizon.

Yes. Funny that he's sporting his Swearengen look here.

I'm also along this lines, maybe i should revisit it since i've watched it at a very young age.

I don't like Anderson's flicks, not even Event Horizon so, i'm not expecting this unless i hear some positives.

I could've sworn I didn't. I hope my memory's not off.

I remember watching it with you guys. And maybe I chuckled at some of the things you guys were chuckling at, but I remember being bored and irritated for most of the duration.

Did they just kind of spoil that it was a crime he didn't commit, with the whole fingergun thing?

Did they just kind of spoil that it was a crime he didn't commit, with the whole fingergun thing? If so, that isn't much of a spoiler for this type of movie, given that this is almost always the case for this sort of archetypal hero character.

If so, that isn't much of a spoiler for this type of movie, given that this is almost always the case for this sort of archetypal hero character.Yeah, I don't suppose it matters much, since it seems to be for the most part, all about cool car stunts and gritty action.

It's not a spoiler. All the plot synopsis for this have been saying that Frankenstein was wrongfully accused.

Well, this looks like the same type of glossy mediocrity that has been Anderson's stock in trade lately. As someone who disliked Resident Evil, AvP, Soldier, and Event Horizon, I can't say this looks appealing at all.

Haven't seen the original.

Hmmm... yeah, I'll see this. Why? My worst fears about this sucking were pretty much confirmed by the trailer. And the action sequences don't look like anything I've seen before. I bet I'd be as bored by this film as I was by the first Tomb Raider.

is Jason Statham considered an A list actor now?

I can't believe I'm even remotely excited for a PaWSAn picture, let alone as excited as I am, which is a substantial much.

Jason Statham A-List? Between Crank and Transporter sequels, DTV-fare, and B-movies like this, I'd say he is definitively not.

Anyone outside of Match Cut even hear of the movie London? Anyone from Match Cut even see it?

There's your answer.

My friends call him Jason 'Statue' :P, he's far from a great actor but we enjoy his action movies a lot. He's probably some kind of modern Kurt Russel/Charles Bronson type.

Sycophant
06-20-2008, 08:01 PM
I've only seen him in a few things, but especially after Crank, I love the Statham.

Grouchy
06-20-2008, 08:17 PM
Yeah, Statham really is a great action star. Always dug the guy, from Lock, Stock onwards. Crank is soon to be recognized as a modern classic or the world is crazy.

He's the perfect actor to play Martian Manhunter if they ever go ahead with a Justice League movie.

From that trailer looks like they removed the point system and all the subversive stuff that made the original a cult, and the only thing that was actually fun about it imho.

If it's still worth watching for Jason's kicking arse and chase scenes, let me know.

It's the new trend - remake movies stripping everything that was interesting about them and make new generations think of their titles as formulaic pieces of shit.

I love Statham, between Crank and those lovably goofy Transporter movies, and his presence always remains strong even in mediocre work like The Bank Job and War.
