I haven't felt this way since I watched August Underground. Holy shit.

93/100

It's better than 90% of the Oscar contenders of the last few years, and while it will clear the Emmy's/Globes, it's absolutely criminal that they didn't do this theatrically first.

I didn't think it was very good. It seemed like it was mostly reenactments of public records and events that I still remember. It was also highly un-cinematic. Basically a radio play.

Kevin Spacey was on Conan O'Brien last night.

It was pretty funny.

John Adams will probably give it a run for its money.

It didn't feel like a movie fit for theatres. Maybe if they increased the budget it would've had that cinematic feel, but as it stands I agree with Antoine.

hah.

Are you kidding me?

This was pretty silly. Whether it was the horrible accent by Leary, or the covering up of Gore/Bush, or the fact that a good amount of the movie is just reenactments of what went on. This would have been horrible if it was in theaters.

Yeah, it was really straight forward and rather silly (very, very ridiculous at times, especially all the mustache twirling by the Republicans after every recount stop), but it's always nice to see a linear simplification of what happened after the fact. It nicely conveyed the frustration of the election with all the fake-out endings. There was, what, 6 third acts?

I thought the moments of brilliance were Laura Dern's portrayal of Katherine Harris as a spotlight hound who was cluless why she was hated. That could've been its own movie. But I also loved Spacey's "I just want to know who fucking won the election. WHO FUCKING WON IT?!" tirade and Leary's litle stand up bit at the end about Clinton getting a blowjob from Sharon Stone. Probably ad-libbed.

The day all movies start to play like sitcoms is the day I stop watching movies. The fact that you praise it because of this is sad.

I sort of want to see this.

There's a lot going for it and what it tries to do is pulled off very effectively, but what was mentioned were things I kind of overlooked but in hindsight, are really bothersome.

I've seen ads for this around town, and it looks like the absolute last thing I would want to watch.

so what's your rating now eternity?Adjusted after a rewatch: 77/100

The 93 is more on a subjective level of how much the film angered me about 2000.

Thoroughly disturbed by it.
