I'll play.

Winston*
11-11-2007, 03:33 AM
Okay, so here's how it's going to play:

I will pair you up with a partner from one of the following genres:

Sci-Fi
Musical
Film Point d'Intérrogation

Or some combination of the three. A recommendation spanning two categories will receive double points. If you are skillful enough to achieve a tri-genre swoop, you will receive triple points as well as a 27 point bonus. These points will be tallied, given out and used in exchange for novelty prizes at a date to be determined later.

You will have a month after the pairings are posted to post your reviews, at which point, your point total will diminish by 2 at 12am EST. Half these points will be added onto your partner's total, assuming that party has completed their review and the other two quarters are to be funneled into a pool to be dished out evenly to all posters whose point total totals up to a prime number.

Bonus points will be given to a poster who recommends chrisnu a particularly camp musical, the number of which to be calculated through the films length and campiness ratio.

I haven't, and as I've been meaning to see it for a while it's great incentive. I like to keep options open for my partner, so three recommendations you can choose from:
The Three-Penny Opera (1931)
Gold Diggers of 1933 (1933)
Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (1953)

At the risk of being pedantic, I'm going to say "no" on this one. It'd take too much of a stretch to call that film a musical.

What kind of place do you live in where The Brave Little Toaster doesn't exist? Remind me to never go there.
Well, my public library has The Brave Little Toaster Goes to Mars, which has to count for something. Anyway, I have to admit that I didn't try very hard to find the original. The video store didn't have it on the shelf, and MirrorMask was available, so I took the path of least resistance.

I watched about 10 minutes of The Umbrellas of Cherbourg while on vacation and have since lost the Netflix. Hopefully I didn't leave it there. Either way, I think I can give an opinion based on those 10 minutes, if not a full review.

That doesn't sound favorable...:|

I think you'd be surprised if you stuck out the whole film, though. It's not the sweet little musical romp it appears to be during the first act.

I know it's nearly universally acclaimed, and I'm not crazy about being banned from these things, so I'll definitely stick with it.

Found the disc earlier today. Phew.
