I can see they haven't increased their standards for CGI any...

Why have all of the movies in this franchise had terrible CGI? Is that shiny, tacky look something they're actually striving for?

Wow, Rob Cohen!?! It looks pretty sweet.

:| Bello? No Weisz means no dd.

Additionally, the fact that Indy finally got made means that this series is finally and irrevocably rendered superfluous.

Not interested. Perhaps a rental.

This is truth.

I hated the first two, and approach this with lots and lots of skepticism, but I've gotta say... it looks substantially more awesome than Indy IV.

:| Bello? No Weisz

Yeh wtf??

I have a guilty pleasure of the previous two films so I will be seeing this... but the direction they are taking it is very strange... why does there need to be a completely different mummy?

So a slightly different trailer's at Papa John's website right now (don't ask me why), and, God help me, this looks like a straight shot of fun-as-hell pulp nonsense. The film actually makes time for a fight with the Abominable Snowman.

I saw the trailer for this film when I went to see Get Smart. There's no way in hell I'm going to see this. Unless I'm really drunk.

Now that Indy4 has disappointed a lot of people, it will be interesting if the new Mummy actually surpasses it.

I was thinking the same. This has a fair chance now of being more entertaining than Indy.

I'm going to watch the movie again when it hits DVD to see if it's really as bad as I think it is. This is really sad and disappointing.

I'm pretty dead certain this film won't be even half as good as Indy 4, or even half as entertaining. Still the thought of this being better than an Indy movie only amuses me greatly instead of just simply annoying or even angering me.

Tis a silly film.

Indeed.

I thought it was pretty bad, but for Anthony Wong fans, it was also, like, the greatest thing ever. I was already appreciative simply for having the opportunity to watch Anthony Wong on the big screen, but what a treat, to see him tear shit up like this. He does no less than:

1. Beat people up with kung fu.
2. Fight a yeti.
3. Ride a dragon.
4. Transform into Two Face.

No regrets. $7.50 well spent.

It's a mummy movie!

Had a lot of fun, so long as no one was talking.

Also, I had no idea Anthony Wong was going to be in this. What a cool surprise.

I think the fun has been sucked out of this franchise. The first two films were ridiculous, but this movie takes ridiculous to the next level. I didn't flinch at the possibility of a Mummy that could control sand in the desert, or giant waves of water... but somehow I cringe at the fact this new mummy can control earth, fire wind and water (and heart for all we know). But Yetis??? And summoning them at will? No Weisz, and her replacement added zero charm that Weisz was able to do. Fraser and Hannah are fine... but Fraser and Maria Bello have no chemistry, not to mention Bello looks terrible as a brunette. I didn't like the new environments and I didn't like the new mummy and bad CGI Dragons... even though the two mummy armies fighting looked pretty good (pretty cute when one of the mummies knocked the head off another mummy in celebration) and Jet Li killing mummies on his horse reminded me of Bruce Campbell in Army of Darkness. As expected, the weakest in the series.

The Yeti scenes were the best things put on film last year. :pritch:

It was completely out of left field... even for a mummy movie.

I just lowered my grade because you made me think more about that scene.

From the SYFY network's movie, Yeti, in which Yetis hunt a college football team led by their quarterback Peyton Elway.

I swear to god I did not make that up. IT EXISTS.

Was looking for a thread to post the news on the upcoming Mummy Reboot which will now be directed by Alex Kurtzman so don't expect it to be any good, when I found this quote.

Just to show where we've come in 6 years, this is now #68 for all time biggest budgets.

Avatar's reported budget is $425 million? How can this be?

With marketing cost, Spidey 3's budget was more than half a billion.
