His music is terrible. Not even good for an ironic chuckle.

I can't help it. I love the overblown theatrics.

I dug him in Fight Club.

100% yes. And yeah he was pretty good in Fight Club, and really awesome in Tenacious D: The Pick of Destiny. I think he was also in The Rocky Horror Picture Show as well.

And yes I love a good meatloaf. I don't trust anyone who doesn't.

Yes. He's a perfect match for Jim Steinman's deliriously overwrought compositions.

No choice up there is negative enough to reflect my hatred of that man's music.

Yes. I would prefer:

"I would rather have a nail hammered into my taint than listen to this ass-hat."

What the hell are you talking about? You guys aren't looking closely enough.

Dammit - how did I miss that?

Sorry.

My friend had the best slam on Meat Loaf ever:

"I wish someone would just drown him in ketchup."

He's a joke without a punchline.

If you aren't amused by "You Took the Words Right Out of My Mouth", that is a you problem.

I think it can be safely said that any music artist that uses brackets prominently in song titles is worthless (Journey, anyone?).

My Journey: Greatest Hits cd that just came today eyes you contemptuously.

Exhibit one (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d7MG-FU43a4) of many. On the other hand, I went out on a limb and had turkey jalapeno meatloaf and guacamole mashed potatoes for dinner tonight. Surprisingly delicious and the sounds my stomach will inevitably make tomorrow night will still be more pleasant that sitting through a single minute of any crappy Meat Loaf song.

Now, now. If we are to judge the man, let us judge him in his prime (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j0ns8t9iQck).

And by "prime", I do not necessarily mean "peak physical condition".

Heh, fair enough. Still sucks, but obviously it's better than the GoPhone ad I've been bludgeoned to death with over the past month.

I'd like to see Meat Loaf, Ann Wilson, a small room, a bucket of 500 wings, and just watch what happens.

I think the problem is too many people associate him with the "I won't do that" song, which definitely isn't his best. Growing up when he was in his prime really made me a fan. I loved the theatrics and the cleverness of the lyrics. The baseball section of "Paradise" is fantastic. He even has one of the best song in Rocky Horror.
