Two films in and I find Kogonada's directorial style, appropriately for his background as video essayist, more towards "filtered" -- his often immaculate framing rather dramatically stifling in their one-perfect-shot-ness than properly meditative. That style hits the mark sometimes, like a breathtaking climatic montage, but overall it's a film of lovely isolated moments more than a satisfying narrative whole for me. Imaginative world-building and great cast though, plus that title credit sequence is an early scene-of-the-year contender. 6.5/10

Most Boring Movie of the Year.

Sorry, I have nothing else to add.
