(I'm not sure if there's a thread like this yet, but I like making threads for my own purposes so here goes.)
This is a thread in which after watching a movie you can come here and ask if anyone liked it so you can see why someone would like the movie or some other reason you give there.

I saw Godard's Contempt about a week ago, and though I liked some shots in the movie and a line or two, I overall felt it was just meh. So I'm curious for those that like the movie if you could tell me some reasons why.

Not exactly what you're looking for, but I, too, was underwhelmed by Contempt.

Wouldn't that be a lot like The Film Discussion Thread?

While Breathless and Band of Outsiders may be more signature works and Weekend his most formally inventive, I find Contempt to be his most challenging and ultimately rewarding work. I think it's fantastic.

I thought 'Band of Outsiders' was generally disregarded? Anyway, 'Comtempt' really challenged me. Its fake ending kind of mocked the attempts at depth made by lackluster tragic films.
Did anyone like 'In Bruges'?

No I think as far as critical consensus goes for New Wave touchstones those usually top the list.

Well, that's good because I love it and was baffled by the critical disregrad for it, that I guess doesn't actually exist.

I too thought that Contempt was pretty good, even if I didn't really understand some of the last act. Jack Palance really made for a good, slimy movie producer and I dug how it was really all about a love that was falling apart, going sour in the most extreme fashion. Curiously enough TCM decided to show it right after Sunrise, which in terms of relationships is the complete opposite of Goddard's 1963 film.
