This was fine. It leans a bit too heavily in the Disney formula of cutesy musicals with some easy to digest message (in this case about not letting grief consume you and open your heart to new people), but some very good 3D animation, fun sequences and a solid cast make it work as a piece of entertainment and I respect the inclusiveness of the story and cast. The downside is that it feels a little on the "been there done that" side and I didn't find any of the music that memorable (although I do remember some of the sequences accompanying it, such as a magical ping pong game). It was passable, but not mind blowing shit.

Opening is the saddest intro I've seen since up.

Despite some forgettable songs, this successfully replicates the wonder & spirit of early 90s Disney films with gorgeously rendered animation and thoughtful narrative rooted in compelling ideas of Chinese mythology & a heartfelt message about moving forward from loss. Glen Keane and Pearl Studio are a match made in heaven.

I really disliked everything on the moon.
