Blood Freak has been resting between both your butt and your ever-so-soft, billowy chair for far too long.

Also, Revolutionist by Yevgeni Bauer, from 1917 is quite good.

I don't know why Stone Reader (2002) never got much attention. I really liked this documentary about literature. More specifically, about one-off authors.

I think it's like a Princess and the Pea kind of a deal. If you were truly a princess, you would have noticed that Blood Freak was beneath your ass.

I don't like the implication that my butt is big enough to cover all these films. I have been using that treadmill, dammit.

Obaltan aka The Aimless Bullet (1960)

This post war South Korean melodrama is one of the darkest most depressing films I've seen. It's a simple story of tragedy revolving around a salaryman and his family and comes from the Golden Age of Korean melodrama carrying pessimistic postwar sentiments of the hopelessness of Korea reuniting.

Ah yeah I've had Obaltan DL'd for a while but the copy I got looked like a bad transfer so I haven't watched it yet. Did you get yours off karagarga as well?

I just want to know if Blood Freak is on karagara.

No, I saw it a few years ago in an Asian film class.

Blood Freak's out from under my ass, but now it's just been riding up it as if I had just seen the most retarded movie ever made. Haha, I'm glad I saw it, though, I suppose I like how that feels. "Good" rec.

Blood Freak is "beyond good and evil".

An odd comedy depicting two old farts getting out of prison and encountering hilarious agism. Watch in amazement as grandpa Kirk Douglas wins over a lithe young paramour! As he dresses in startling neon suits! And see Burt Lancaster rising a nursing home up in rebellion!

I'd rather kill myself.

It's better than Silent Movie. Just to give you a sense of where it is in the humor-sphere.

Part of the fun is watching these two icons of old hollywood interacting with the crazy eighties. The movie is like an eighties time capsule. I'm a big Burt Lancaster/Kirk Douglas fan, and having that element really gives the film a lift. But I do think it has enough solid humor that a lot of people could get a kick out of it.

On another note I really want to round out Polanski's filmography I still have to check out...

# Bitter Moon (1992)
# Frantic (1988)
# Pirates (1986)
# Tess (1979)
# What? (1972)
Cul-de-Sac

Of the two of those that I've seen, I preferred Bitter Moon. Cul-de-sac was good, but felt at times a little... forced? Bitter Moon had this wonderful sleazy beauty to it. Of the rest, I most want to see Tess.

What? seems really interesting to me too... I actually liked Pasolini's Hawks and Sparrows more than a lot of his work so I'm quite interested in seeing some absurdist comedy from other talented auteurs.

Bitter Moon is a blast, pure kinky fun. Frantic is competent. Tess is gorgeousness and gorgeousity made flesh. It's where my hots or Kinski first began.

Pirates is the best pirate movie made to date, Bitter Moon is a hoot and I love it, and Frantic is oddly compelling and I can't really put my finger on why.

Kinski's eye in that photo looks like one of those paper eyes that Cocteau would put on his actors in one of his films. Creepy.
