Caught this on Shudder at 2:30am one night after The Last Drive-In, and kept it on because I love Flying Lotus's music, and was curious about his eye for filmmaking. The result is living proof that musicians can have fascinating cinematic visions, even if their visions are capital-WTF WTF. This movie is a post-apocalyptic grossout horror anthology of post-Big One Los Angeles that’s if Eraserhead had Ren and Stimpy’s sense of humor. It’s a surefire candidate for the Most Disgusting Movie Ever Made, with each vignette getting grosser as they progress. That said, it builds a unique world, tonally transitions to and from demented and cartoonish absurdism, dark surrealism and ethereal melancholy well, and the animated sequences as well as practical effects are well done. Your mileage will definitely vary, but Flying Lotus’ directorial debut remains an unsettling prophecy of what a world literally gone to shit could look like after the apocalypse. Whether you love it or hate it, Kuso is impossible to forget. It's very much post-apocalyptic sci-fi/horror in the vein of The Greasy Strangler and Monty Python, and I can't say I've never seen that before on film.

So Skitch, in other words, this is a great Roulette trap to set for your co-host. :)
