Not sure why I watched this because I could predict it was going to be a typical film of its kind, competently made but ultimately boring. Samuel L. Jackson brings his usual refreshing presence and the third act is somewhat more interesting because of Nicholas Hoult's character's ambivalent role in the story and what it points out about white privilege, but while I wouldn't call it a bad or flawed film, it didn't hold my interest for long.
