You know, maybe it was my complete lack of expectations for this, but I thought it was rather nice. I mean, most of it is just Zellwegger giving a great performance, granted, and it's not like the filmmaking was otherwise remarkable, but it was a kind of bittersweet, smart film that didn't aim below the belt for the big emotional moments. I liked that the movie assumed anyone going into it already knew who Judy Garland was because, seriously, why would you even watch it otherwise?

Judy needs to think about her entire life before she sings. 5/10

I found this utterly forgettable and cinematically trite. Zellweger’s mugging is good until it isn’t- we get to London and the film doesn’t take any chances. One note. About the only thing I enjoyed about this was the period costumes. The story barely makes an effort to tell anything about Judy beyond what anyone may know, so at least there could have been an effort at compelling film in the performance pieces... but not even that.
