The timeframe between real events and films based on those events seems to be getting shorter and shorter these days. Such is the case of Brexit, which dramatizes the 2016 referendum and the tactics behind each side's campaign, although mainly focusing on Dominic Cummings, which the script identifies as the brains behind the "Leave" side. This is actually a very good film, in which TV director Toby Haynes (Sherlock, Black Mirror, Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell) uses all of his bag of tricks to make the subject matter compelling and vibrant. Cumberbatch completely disappears inside his role and the film earns its place amongst the high podium of smart, committed political cinema.
