Close to a Nay, but Yay? I liked the ultra slow pacing and it was smartly directed all the time. I do feel Affleck touches on all sorts of themes without really exploring any of them. His back and forth with the young actress is amazing and that's ultimately what makes it work, but the script just hits the expected beats.

Somehow didn't see this thread when I watched it earlier this year:

Affleck cedes Anna Pniowsky the first lead credit, which seems apt. He does a typically superb variation on his stoic type, adding an undercurrent of panicked desperation trying the damnedest to keep his daughter safe in the dystopian world. But she is the slightly more dynamic role, having to come of age around this world and against his strict protection, culminating in a highly moving last scene. One of the best child performances in recent years. 7.5/10
