Coming of age, meets journey film with some cringe worthy Star Trek stuff sprinkled in. The Star Trek angle was what interested me in this, and
Toni Collette and Dakota Fanning are both great with their characters, and things begin to get interesting when Dakota's character begins her journey. I find it difficult to relate to the characters and knew things would wrap up nicely in a bow at the end. There's little payoff even when the conflicts start to increase in severity.
