John Lennon is being played by a man named Mark Chapman? Bizarro!
Lindsay Lohan as Jude? What is going on here?

So is this the new thing, posters with big faces with HDR photography?

Making the Fincherian The Killing of John Lennon seem like the masterpiece Zodiac wasn't, this misbegotten psychological portrait eagerly foregrounds Leto's excess blubber and histrionic blather, delivered like bad improv outside the Dakota building—"home of the great and powerful," according to Chapman, clearly oblivious that Rex Reed also lives inside.

Strangely enough, years ago I predicted that posters and DVD covers would eventually just become headshots of the lead star with the title and that would be it. Lo and behold.

Watched the trailer and the overriding feeling I have is that this guy does not deserve to have a film made about him. In essence, it feels like a reward for his cruel act of violence.

There's a petition formed by Lennon fans that has been going on for two years now trying to prevent this movie from being released. They argued that all Chapman wanted was to be famous, so making and releasing this movie would only be a celebration of Lennon's murder.
Personally, I also thought it was in extreme bad taste that they named this movie "Chapter 27", since Chapman's wish was to write Chapter 27 of Catcher in the Rye in Lennon's blood. Essentially, this movie is fulfilling Chapman's legacy for him.

Ugh. Yeah, I will not be seeing this. A good film could probably be made based on this event, but trying to delve into Chapman's "personality" is not something that interests me at all.

What's more to him besides the fact that he was some twisted asshole who offed a guy who was all about peace and justice in this world? Seriously. Although I think a movie about Oswald could be interesting....

I, unfortunately, am scheduled to see it next week.

Film Freak Central's Alex Jackson would appear to be the only one who found a lot to like about this movie (gave it four stars at Sundance 2007). I am a little intrigued.
