Anyone watch this? I'm only two episodes in so far but loving it. A more sinister Master and Commander, with a potentially supernatural/monstrous angle (or not, unsure yet). Great cast. Some of the dialogue is a bit hard to decipher given the creaky conditions and accents. But very tense.

I have a thing for snow/horror movies-(the Thing, 30 Days of Night, the Colony) so I'm really interested in this.

Some face-blindness from so many heavy-bearded men with thick clothing asides, this is a great, supremely atmospheric series. Top-notch production value and excellent performances all across, especially from Jared Harris and the main antagonist.

Oh damn. Three episodes in and I'm hooked.

Love Jared Harris in this.

I'm also impressed, about half way or so in.

A couple of years ago we visited the Polar Exploration Museum in Oslo, Norway. It houses Amundsen's ships, Fram (which took him to the South Pole) and Gjoa (which he sailed when they actually found the Northwest Passage), but it also has an extensive exhibition, with artifacts, about the Franklin expedition. It is such a fascinating story that it would make for an amazing series even without the... extra elements from "The Terror".

If you're ever in Norway, do yourself a favor and go there.

I finished this yesterday- left me feeling like it feel short of something. Like the payoff wasn't nearly as satisfying as, say, Wayward Pines. I really liked this time period and was hoping for more.

But I see they are making a season 2 and it's taking place in a different time period (WWII). I may check it out.
