Probably the best videogame movie so far by virtue of its sheer size and spectacular visual effects. Perhaps there is a lesson here with regards to adapting videogames. Adapt the really old ones, they weren't cinematic to begin with, which means the movie could actually transcend its origins. It's still a pretty dumb concept, but there's a few big laughs to be had with the ape and The Rock, and I found the action actually decently engaging and exciting instead of exhausting and noisy. But only just.

I love how The Rock was just straight up treated like the fourth big giant monster wreaking havoc on the city.

Also love how in this big corporate science facility, there's just one random arcade machine of the original game just sitting there all by its lonesome.

Yeah, this was a lot of big dumb fun. :p

I actually thought that when the rock gets shot at the end he would take a sniff of whatever the others had sniffed and become a kaju himself.

Just realized that the director of Rampage also did San Andreas. Just saying, but I'd go see a double feature of those two movies. >_>

Pretty much the complete opposite of A Quiet Place. Loud, brash, destructive... but absolutely no wit or sense of fun to drive the engine of carnage. Some of the dialogue is just painful.

If this movie services any purpose, it's that we need more Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Joe Manganiello in our lives.

Why have Off-Brand Javier Bardem when you can enjoy the real thing?

I don't care how sexually inappropriate that ape is, there's no way it could beat a gator that size.

Heh wrong ape?

edit: also, opposable thumbs and tools = Ape winning.

This was gloriously dumb.

Just what I needed.

A bandoleer of grenades through the gills slowed it down.

....I can't believe my only complaint on this movie is that the B2 was far too low on its final approach.
