This made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Same goes for the first one.

Yeah, this movie was even better than the first. It's so refreshing to see a character that embodies kindness and generosity in a film that earns its laughs and earns its emotions. Perhaps the British reserve keeps it from being too syrupy. But goodness gracious, the story is captivating, the chase is exciting, the gags are funny, and the heartwarming payoff is large.

I went to this with my 16-year old son. Both of us are much older than the supposed target audience. But we had a great time.

Giant waves after giant waves of inclusive warmth and enchanting gentleness, full of classic cinema's sumptous references, exciting set-pieces, and some of the most beautiful, inviting special effects in recent memory. The generosity of the last scene, especially that last image, tranforms what should be a predictable endgame into an uplifting high. Lovely. 8.5/10

Well, this was positively lovely; thanks Film Twitter. While perhaps not especially nuanced in the villain, its gentleness and grace that are shown to all of the main cast comes across with such ease. It's a deep cast that allows each actor to make his or her particular moment, and Grant gets to have fun in ways that make me remember his magnetism was anchored in something other than a blowhard. Where the film really works is in establishing a community of support around Paddington, and this allows the film to become something more than many of its ilk.

A pleasant surprise.
