I swear we've had multiple discussions about Kanopy here before, but I couldn't find a thread for it. Maybe the discussion is buried in the Netflix thread.
Anyway, sweet news as a great streaming service just got even better: Frederick Wiseman’s Entire Catalog Heads To Free Streaming Service Kanopy (http://deadline.com/2018/01/frederick-wiseman-catalog-heading-to-free-streaming-service-kanopy-1202239250/)

I can't remember where we were talking about it either. Wish this would come around to my branch. I requested it.

I don't think they have a dedicated list of which libraries offer it on their site (instead, you submit your library and get the suspense of seeing if they've teamed up), but I was able to find a few:
Los Angeles Public Library
University of Iowa
University of Southern California
Brooklyn Public Library
Phoenix Public Library
Seattle Public Library

And Kanopy's amazing. I was watching Day of the Dead on it the other night. Tax dollars paid for that erupting ribcage.

Refreshing this thread, as I just discovered this service. I figured I'd throw the $45 annual fee to my hometown library branch even tho I don't live in Charlotte anymore just to support the library. My mom still lives there, so I guess I could technically get her to get a library card and use her number, but I feel it's good to support local libraries anyway. Plus the collection of movies is extremely good for the equivalent $3.75/month it comes out to. Better than Netflix in price and seems to have tons of great films, including classics and Criterion Collection and more. One linked library seems to get you 6 movies per month, resetting on the 1st. I *believe* that if you link more libraries, you can get an additional 6 "credits" per library card linked, tho that would require some extra effort of living or owning property in more than one place, usually. Gonna see who's in on the Kanopy service around here in the Charleston area. Not the main library system, unfortunately.
Anyway, bump.
