Extremely sad news. He directed one of my favorite romantic movies (Truly, Madly, Deeply) as well as one of my favorite book-to-screen adaptations (Cold Mountain).

That's too bad. Did some great work and seemed like a good guy.

R.I.P.

A movie like The Talented Mr. Ripley is a rare type of movie that doesn't get made often enough. Even if it is a bit on the long side.

Too young. Both "Patient" and "Ripley" were rather strong, especially the former.

I'm wondering how he died. It says he was working on a BBC T.V. special, and the article doesn't mention that he was sick.

The article says he had a hemorage in his neck related to surgery he had last week.

That's sad, not a huge fan of the guy, but that's way too young.

Ah. That wasn't there when I clicked on the article this morning. It's sad that my mind automatically goes to drugs when there isn't a cause of death listed for a celebrity.

Quite sad indeed.

I found out from reading a headline and a small description on a TV news site. I thought I had read it wrong or something because it talked more of the fact that the miniseries had moved rather than the fact he had just passed. But then I came here and realized it was true.

I adore his work on the Jim Henson Storyteller series. Sad news indeed.

Not a huge fan, but big enough. Very unfortunate.
