Only In front of R-rated movies of course. Still, pretty cool.

One step towards the end of censorship, you could say. Kind of. Not really.

Let's say instead: one step toward the diminution of censorship. :)

Why would it have anything to do with censorship? It's not like this is the first time. They're just bringing it back because it became popular again on the internet.

Studio or filmmaker wants to create a trailer a certain way because it best fits their film but can't because it wouldn't be allowed for all audiences or wouldn't be allowed to be shown in theatres?

Somewhat indirect censorship, in its way.

But it was never banned or not allowed. The studios just stopped making them, until Judd Apatow kind of revived them.

But why did they stop making them? Cause they knew they'd never get them in theatres.

Plus, I remember a few red-banders now and then in the last 5-10 years.

I wonder if this has anything at all to do with the digitally touched Indy trailer and the internet backlash. It's funny how a bunch of fat, greasy dorks playing with their computers have a say in today's world, at least regarding entertainment.

Censorship is everywhere. The very fact that redband has to exist is censorship.

Duh. But bringing red band trailers back to theaters does nothing to affect censorship.

I'd say it's a step ahead. Theaters are becoming more lenient about what they show. This is a few steps closer to them screening NC-17 rated movies without hesitation, as oppose to not screening them because of content.

It has a lot to do with digital cinema. Because a digital projector could block a red band trailer from being put on a print of a kids movie, it makes red bands more practical. With film, a projectionist may "accidentally" put a red band trailer on a kids movie.

By the way, Barty, has your theater decided to pull the trailers for Forgetting Sarah Marshall? The green band trailer shows Jason Segel's penis if framed incorrectly (in the shot where he drops his towel) so I've read that some theaters received complaints.

And Regal isn't against showing NC-17 or U-rated films either. At least the one in Miami Beach isn't.

Yep, we had a company wide email that told us to remove the trailer.
