The cynical part of me wanted to dismiss this film as precious and trite. But I cried.

A charming wisp of a film that treats everything with equal almost-deadpan tendency, so many elements of seemingly irreconcilable tones can come together smoothly. Be it the dark-as-hell backstories for many of the kids, them grasping the adult world, or the many sweet, sunny paths some story threads end up. I thought at first the film might be too straight-faced to linger, but turns out it reflects how the kids need to adapt to horrific situations/their depressing quality of life in order to survive mentally quite well, and by the end I suddenly find myself moved just by the sight of their picture together, bound by their past traumas and current shared joy, a lot.

Also, recommended by Captain America himself!

Nothing about this film connected with me. I'm not actually saying it's bad, just that I was completely indifferent towards it.
