Yeah, I noticed I dropped the ball hard on docs last year when I was making up my ballot. Felt pretty bad. Feels even worse looking at that category now.

Well I was just asking as a favor so I could contribute to the ballet since March is a busy month for me.

Eight ballots cast so far and already each of the six candidates for Best Picture has received at least one vote. The race is wide open.

I find it hard to prioritize documentaries for these awards because they typically won't qualify for any awards other than "best documentary." They certainly won't qualify for any acting awards (unless you're a non-conformist like Baby Doll), or things like costume design, art direction, etc. Maybe editing and score, occasionally cinematography, but most documentaries are more function over form. I usually stick with fiction unless it's a subject I'm particularly interested in. For the purposes of award voting, I'd rather be able to fill out multiple categories rather than just one.

Nah, this is great. I'll get it kicked off tomorrow morning and then you guys can take it from there. I'm hoping the ties will sort themselves out by the end of the day.

If they don't, I'd like to try something new. In that situation, we present the nominees as usual, then announce there has been a tie and present the ones with the highest votes. At that point, a new thread would be created with a poll to determine the sole winner. The poll would last 24 hours. Any objections/suggestions?
