We didn't have a thread for this? Nobody watched it?

Well, that was for the best...

This is a lousy sequel. I didn't think it was terrible or anything after the fact; I can see the germ of a good story here, and no doubt what little works (some of it being echoes of the first film) are owing to the source material. But it's a lousy sequel. A lot of what doesn't work is because of lazy echoes of the original (Shigeru Umebayashi, WHAT ARE YOU DOING MAN), and the entire production looks cheap and tacky. Some of the action is fun (it's Yuen Woo-Ping, he's a massive talent, after all) but at the same time you have actors like Jason Scott Lee chewing all of the scenery around him, whether it's practical or digital, and what the hell is this movie even trying to be half the time? Michelle Yeoh's voiceover is terrible (terribly written, that is) and the final moments so unearned I was screaming with laughter. Honestly, I expected better from EVERYONE involved.

The more I think about it, the more I hate it, in retrospect. What a waste.

I watched it. For a CTHD sequel, yes its lousy. For a random Netflix martial arts movie, I was entertained. Its nowhere near the masterpiece of the first film.
