It's a male.

April and the Extraordinary World.

Christian Desmares and Franck Ekinci, 2015.

Synopsis: In an alternate France stuck in the 19th century, a young girl tries to find her disappeared scientist parents. Scientist disappear here.

How does it look? Steampunkish. And the animation fits it to a T. It's very crisp, very detailed! Reminds me of Persepolis.

What did I like? It's a thriller! Action and adventure never stops, never let's up and is always clear and interesting. All of this is anchored by a very imaginative and tangible setting. The characters are fine, Darwin is my favorite. Did I mention the world-building is amazing?

So, yeah, this movie is tons of fun.

What didn't I like? Sorry Darwin. No matter how much you ship them and say they like each other and all, I just didn't buy the romance between April and Julius. Felt forced.

Final thoughts: Yeah, science, bitch!

I liked this one too. Creative, unpredictable and strange.
